I haven't said much about Nudge over the last week as it has been pretty difficult here and he has not been coping well (nor have we for that matter) Anyway, I took him back to the vet today to get checked over as he has been very sick the last few days and I was concerned that the transdermal gel wasn't working.

Getting up at 4am to a cat vomiting and then finding he has not used the cat tray are stressful enough, let alone imagining the pain he has been going through as well.

We all braced ourselves for bad news and the boys came with me for support. The vet agreed that the gel obviously isn't working for Nudge so we are going to have to give him the tablets. She did tell me that I can crush them and mix them with food so if he takes them that way, he will hopefully start to improve over the weekend.

She explained that him vomiting at 4am is due to his stomach being empty as he is bringing up bile. Apparently, even though I feed him his last meal before we go to bed, it isn't enough for him to get through the night anymore. :fx: with the tablets, this will help with the vomiting as it will slow his thyroid down and he will be able to rest again.

The good news is, he has had his first tablet  I mixed it in with some Philadelphia cream cheese (and he is still licking his lips :hehe:) We have all high fived him and are all smiles at the moment. The tablets are twice the dose of the gel so they should kick in by Sunday :D

Well done Barbara! :D I hadn't thought of mixing it with philly before...might try that next time I have to give either cat antibiotics  I just hope Nudge continues to like the new method of delivery :fx:

:fx: the tablets work. He might also like vegemite to mix the tablets in (although philly has more calories so will probably fill him up for longer). So cute you high-fived him :hehe:

Barbara, I'm so sorry to hear about Nudge, poor baby!

I actually had to go back and find your other threads to read up on what is wrong with him before I could post here.

Hope the tablets work and make him more comfortable.

Thanks ladies :)

We have decided to put his tray just near the bedroom door at night in the hope that he will use it rather than one of the rugs or carpet. Hopefully tonight will be better :fx:

I hope the tabs work a treat and Nudge is feeling better soon :D
(Nudge reminds me of Nudge that was on that show "hey Dad" )

That's where we got the name from Rachel :hehe:

He did well last night and there was no vomiting this morning. He hasn't been to the toilet yet so still waiting to see where he decides to do that. We moved the tray in last night and he used it a few times.

He has had his tablet this morning so all is still good :D

Barbara, I'm wondering why he's going to the toilet elsewhere. If it's urgency, maybe he's just not being able to get to the litter tray on time, so it might be worth having a few trays? :dk:

Sounds like you've got an improvement there so I really hope that continues. :fx:

No, its not an urgency matter because he was pretty much walking past a tray to go and do it. The vet told me that they can apparently get disorientated and forget where they are.
