View Full Version : What is your favourite place in the world?
Good morning everyone,
I was just looking at the different discussion groups here in the Forum and i noticed there wasn't a category headed, "Travel" or "holidays", unless it's hiding :P. I couldn't find a category called 'work' either..which i also think is a big part of a women's liife. (Sometimes our worklife can be more interesting than our homelife!)
I found the Health, Food, Parenting Movies sections etc..but not anything to do with holidays etc Interesting what constitutes a Women's Forum hey..
I guess the travel category could come under 'Hobbies'?
Travelling is one of my ultimate favourite things to do! Last year, my DH and I went on a round-the-world trip, taking only ourselves and our backpacks! We left our four kids (we have two each, all in their early 20's!) and spent the year exploring the world..and ourselves! It was so wonderful! We came back and now have to try to settle back into our lives again, which is both a challenge and a pleasure.
What are some of your favourite places in the world? Or in your dreams? :)
My favourite place is Argentina (South America) Why? Because it has spectacular glaciers (Patagonia) the gorgeous Iguazu Falls, scrumptious food! (Oh the steaks!), great nightllife in Buenos Aires (we had Xmas and NY there!) and of course, the very passionateTANGO!!! Yes, Argentina is a very cool place!

This is going to sound really boring , but I dont fly and to be honest I dont really have any ambition to go over seas so I would have to say my favourite place in the world is the south coast in nsw.

Hi Holly, the South Coast doesn't sound boring when you live in WA! For us, it's exciting to go there! :-) I've gotta say, when we came back from overseas..we were so happy to be 'home' and since we flew in to Sydney...that felt like 'home' to us (instead of Perth, where we live) and we thought, 'Yes, Australia is the best place in the world!' Funny, but you've raised a good point - a person's favourite place in the world, doesn't have to be overseas! I might have to slip Argentina into #2 spot hehe

Hey Jeda, welcome to AFW! :D
Some of us will post a thread about our holidays in the photos section or in the AFW Local section, if it is applicable (i.e. holidays within Australia). Others are more private and do not want to share their photos with the whole net, so there are also holiday threads within another area not accessible to the general public and new members. :) And as far as a forum about work goes - well I would rather leave that where it belongs, at work! :D
Personally I have only been to New Zealand and also within a great portion of Australia - I still have WA, NT and ACT to tick off my list but hey, I've still got a good many years to explore my own backyard. My partner and I are planning on going to Africa or Europe in a few years time, maybe both if the budget will stretch. :y:
Most of the places I have visited have been special in some way. I loved the whole of New Zealand and will be back again in the future. Tasmania is stunning and Kangaroo Island as well....not to mention the Great Ocean Road. Let's make it easy - I like anything that doesn't look like a concrete jungle, although to be honest, some of those I am a little fond of as well. :hehe:

Stormy Weather - i loved your post! I must admit, i got a little distracted! kept looking at your gorgeous pussy tats. They are SO adorable! (And full of character by the looks!) My two little Miss Feline's are back home now (collected them from my daughter last week) and i tell you, the power struggle has begun - one of them keeps stealing my spot! After a year away from here, they still remember us too! :)
Re, exploring your own backyard - we do take it for granted and really should 'explore' more - but oh, once you have been overseas...and to the remotest spots, you never look back. Europe's great, a little overrated and so crammed full..(IMO).
NZ is definitely a paradise. We whizzed around NZ on our last leg, for 3 weeks, and vowed to go back and take our time. Good thing about NZ is, apart from having all the natural beauty, (I loved Stewart Is) it's close! I tell ya, there is so much to see out there in the Big Wide World - and once you get started - it seems there's more to see!!!

I sometimes think travel is a bit of a personal thing and really not everyone can afford it or have the desire to do it, and lets face it, its not really an everyday occurance for most people.
I have travelled all over Australia, lived in WA and drove back to Sydney, over a 3 week period, been to NZ, parts of Asia and Europe and in 2006 went to east coast of USA and Canada...next is more of America and maybe Egypt.
Favourite place I have visited and would go back in a heartbeat is Italy, any part, loved everything about it, food, wine, people, scenery etc.

I haven't been overseas but have travelled all over Australia and have lived in NSW, SA and for the most part of my life WA. I can't say that there is 1 place that I have loved more than anywhere else as I have loved and threatened to move to countless places :hehe: I guess my favourite place would have to be Bunbury WA where most of my family and friends are

I have travelled up and down the East Coast of Australia, from the bottom of NSW to Fraser Island in QLD. The one time we flew on a airplane we went to Hamilton Island, which was magical.
Honestly, I have enjoyed everyone of our holidays, and it would be hard to put one in first place. But, I suppose snorkelling over The Great Barrier Reef with the kids was pretty magical, and is something that they still talk about.:)
