Well, I have been trying to be a good girl. I was going to gym for a few months, and felt good for it, BUT I'm a bit over that. I work 6 days a week, and I was always tired of a night, when I had to go.
So, I was thinking that the food I eat is my obvious down fall. (At the moment I'm snacking on choc bullets!)
I need simple food easy to make, or buy, that is good for me. I find that fruit doesn't fill me up.
I haven't had to watch what I've had to eat before, so I really am unsure, of how many kj a day I should be keeping under.
I want to try to be good through the week, and that way I can still enjoy my nibblies, and drinks of a weekend! I have all ready started with my drinks, I now have diet ginger ale with my scotch instead of the real stuff!!!:D
Please let me know some of the foods that you enjoy that are good for you, and filling!:)

A decent breakfast cereal is good for when you are hankering for something filling and perhaps a tad sweet (use the ones with dried fruit )....there is no reason why it need to be relegated to breakfast only.

Lucy - get some weight watchers jelly and prepare the jelly as normal BUT pour it into six small jelly cups. Then when you are feeling like something sweet - you can have one of those. Frozen yogurts are really good as well  Water crackers (instead of corn chips) and salsa are also satisfying. I think it is just a matter of seeing what you like and changing it a bit so it is less fattening :)

Good luck :)

Thanks Barbara, I like the jelly idea, because I do crave sweet foods. Now, how do I hide that from the kids, I'd come home to grab a jelly, and they'd all be gone!!:)

I eat a dried fruit and nut mix....about a handful and that keeps me going for a little while. :)

I like nuts Stormy, my problem is that i can't stop eating them. A handful doesn't seem to fill me up enough!

It will if you only have a handful to eat ;) I do get in the habit of grabbing a bag of the mixed fruit and nut and munching at the computer, so on my days off I try to get out in the backyard and only take about a handful out with me, as well as a big bottle of water or diluted cordial. I get stuff done, it's a heck of a workout for me and I don't eat so much - so win, win, win for me. :D

i know this too.. i can be good with exercise, because it makes me feel good, but i always sabotage myself eating the wrong things.. it's not easy! i like snacking on walnuts ever since i found out walnuts raise HDL (the good cholesterol) and i like fresh fruits, dried fruits, or raw veges to snack on too.. but the sugar craving gets me every time, and i still can't get around that.. i do try to not involve fat in my sugar intake tho, a few lollies can't do me as much harm as biscuits, donuts, chocolate and pastries can.. or so i like to think.. :D

popcorn! yes... this is actually good for a person if it is not covered in butter or honey, or a combination of both with a little salt too.. :D

really... can use an air popper so that it's fat free... and just sprinkle on some lemon pepper, or whatever you like for flavouring.. those microwave packs have too much fat.

Hi Ness, I am also on a diet and it is going really well, I have a bit of a sweet and savoury tooth, so will tell u a few things that I have, there are new chip thinghys out called PITOS they are in the snack isle of the supermarket, they ahve 80% less fat than chips i have tried the smokehouse bbq flavour and they are really yummy the fat content is 3.1 grams of fat for teh whole pack 50 g. and the saturated fat is 0.1 .so give them a try they are really ummy.yummy even LMAO. Pop corn is good and u can get the diet ones with butter even microwave style, they are called LITE, i dont eat it but i buy them for my kids and they lvoe them, for the occasional treat u can try FLING choclate bar, i cant eat choc but my gf swears by it she said it is the best. and way lower in fat than other bars. Anyhow will go through heaps more with you and get back to u, am off on 3 days hoildays woohooo:bdance:Cheers....Linda

Drink Smoothies. Frozen fruit frsh juice.. like Oj or even almond milk.. It you could put yogurt if you like. And just sip it. It fills me up. Oh and try a little peanut butter in it too.

Nuts and fruit I think are totally filling.

How about Hummus and veggies?:tree:

I remembered a weight watchers recipe that you prepare in the microwave:

1/2 banana
1 apple
cinnamon
sprinkle wit a little vanilla flavoured sugar and microwave for 4 minutes.

It satisfies my sweet tooth.

Gee, thanks girls, lots of idea. Today when I went shopping, I bought some low joule jelly, and containers to hide in the crisper. We will see how that works!:)

I've lost some weight recently and mostly replaced my old 'biscuit and chips' with low-fat milk, yogurt and fruit.

Also - to minimize actually craving snacks, eating less carbohydrates helps a LOT! I take carbohydrates in small quantities at lunch and breakfast and at dinner very, very little or none at all ... Eating more veggies and white meat at mealtimes helps too... ;)
