Hoping that this isn't a daft question.......

My power went off for nearly a day recently. All the meat (worth quite a bit) went a bit soft (I don't know how soft it ended up), and then refroze when the power came on whilst I was at work.

I can't bring myself to throw it out, especially the expensive stuff. Would you cook the meat bit by bit and feed it to your cats? (eg. defrost and poach chicken breasts and then dice it for the little darlings). I know for humans that you shouldn't do so. (I'm chucking the seafood as it's too dicey!!)

Provided that it was all still below 4-6 degrees for that one day (ie- it was as cold as a fridge inside your freezer) I would say that the meat would be fine to give to your pets Kekka. Obviously from thawing and then refreezing the quality may be tarnished but I am sure the pets won't notice :)

I've done that before Kekka when a similar problem happened here....and my two are well and truly alive to tell the tale. Fortunately I only had pet meat in the freezer at the time. :D

In my experience, cats are unlikely to eat meat that is off. If it was soft but didn't get warm I think it would be fine.

yep I would feed it to them I think it will be fine & as Naomi said cats will turn their noses up if it doesnt smell/tatse right...........unlike dogs

My cat knows the difference between dodgy meat and stuff thats worth eating. You'd be surprised. I would cook it a little and then feed it to them.

Watch him/her gobble it up!

Thanks girls!

I hope that Sox, Smudge & Tilley enjoy their eye fillet, chicken and lamb over the next few weeks. I'd better stagger it so that they don't go off the tinned stuff! That'd be all I'd need.

I would prefer to feed my pets food made up of your meat Kekka than tin food anyday...I hate that stuff for my pets.

I used to always feed my dogs pet mince (cooked up) and by it's smell sometimes I'd say it's not the best meat...but the dogs always loved it...
