Do any of you ladies cook in a tagine?

The tagine consists of two parts: a round pot (traditionally clay), and a conical cover with a small hole which allows some steam to escape. I think it originates from Morroco?

I have noticed lots of yummy sounding recipes lately that are cooked in a tagine and have been thinking about buying one...thought I would ask for your opinions on them first before I go hunting for one.

Would also love some of your favourite tagine recipes if you would like to share?

Thanks ;)

I'm not sure if you'll have too much luck getting one Trish.....there was a news item on the telly sometime during the past week that said a lot of the imported tagines are contaminated with high levels of lead and have been recalled from the market.

Oh really Kay? I didn't see that.

I was looking at some in the kitchen warehouse the other day...clay ones.

I think it was somewhere down in SA and another one in Perth.....I know I've seen it.

Here you go, knew I wasn't imagining it :hehe:

OH ok...thanks Kay.

Seems it has something to do with the lead contained in the glazing...the ones I was looking at weren't glazed so they were probably ok :)

Oh good....I just thought with your health, it would be one thing you would want to avoid :)
