Gadgets you bought, used or are useless!

In another thread I spoke about kitchen stores which I love to browse in.

I was thinking of stuff that I own ...

I have a boiled egg cutter (so I don;t burn my fingers when I cut the top off my googie)

I have a truffle slicer which I have used once and cost me $50 for the cutter and that again for 2 french truffles (and believe it or not I'm allergic to mushrooms)

I have a ginger grater and I love it, I also have one of those things that will slice veges really really finely and juliene stuff (you get them from Easter show and from Peters of Kensington). I love it but it is deadly - you need to be careful.

The thing I find with most gadgets is they look great but aren't always practical. Tho there is some goodies out there!

I have a set of japanese slicers which are the best! An old Japanese friend gave them to my mum years ago and we love them. They are very sharp and slice things ever so thinly, also juliene and they do it with ease. Sounds similar to your ones Gail.

Other than those I don't really have any fancy gadgets.

Not really a gadget but my microwave. I don't cook in microwave but usually use it for reheating. There is not a day that I don't use it.

I don't think we've ever used our pie maker (but it was a gift, we didn't buy it).

We use our rice cooker all the time.

And a good knife block is essential! (not really a 'gadget' though).

We don't really own any gadgets but my friend gave me a mini grater and I'm not sure what I can grate up using it?? Any clues. I don't cook much tho...

monty u can prolly use it for grating ginger and other small bits lol

im not a great 1 for gadgets...but my dad used to buy all the new appliance thingys...which iv now inherited...popcorn machines, milkshake makers, omlete makers, health grills, meat slicers etc... i hardly ever use them lol... have a cupboard full of stuff :P
