Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has experience with ghd straighteners. I have a Remington Wet 2 Dry and have used it for over 2 years - initially found it great but then started to lose a lot of hair. I'm thinking of buying a ghd because I've been told that they are much better for your hair. Also I was told by a hairdresser (that doesn't work for Stefan) that the Stefan straighteners are made by ghd; just have different label on them. Does anyone have any info on either of these? Bit reluctant to spend $300 on ghd but if they are really great maybe it's worth it.
Thanks :)

never heard of those and wet to dry straighteners are the worst kind to use-i've heard that those really rip your hair out. the best to use that doesn't break your hair is ceramic straighteners. i have one that was about $50 and it works great. i've noticed that i don't shed so much now. my mom has one from CHI, it's very popular here and she spent a few hundred on it, but that's even better. i just didn't have the money for it at the time, so i'd definitely go with a ceramic straightener. :)

Thanks everyone. The Remington I have has ceramic plates and I never actually use it with wet hair because it doesn't do a good job and I hate that sizzle that you get - just know you're cooking the goodness out of your hair! Happy girl, thanks - can't afford to do anything just yet and am still deciding whether to get one. Will let you know and if you are still selling yours I'll check it out.

I have a GHD and LOVE it!

I bought one for $500 when they first came out years ago and it died the other day ( I always seem to drop it so it was just a matter of time, the plate was always popping out) I bought a new one off eBay for $230 brand new from a sydney salon and used it today and it works wonderfully!

love love love

My middle daughter has natural tight curls and get this hates them. Well she used her cousins GHD and you would've sworn that she was born with straight hair worked beautifully. So guess what she got for her birthday last year yep a GHD.

I just brought DD1 a cheapy straightener (she only wants one for school socials).

I would love to get a GHD for me, as I think it's the only one I would be frightened to put near my frizzy hair.

i am obsessed with my hair straightner and i have had heaps of different ones in my time - ive never had a ghd but ive heard they are really really good - jsut a bit expensive for me considering how often mine seem to break!

that's what i was thinking myself amy, but i'm thinking that if i do get an expensive one and supposedly they last a pretty long time-it may be worth it! i have to at least buy a new one once every two years, sometimes earlier..

yes thats true its just a lot to pay up front! i might have to do a bit of research about them and see if i really want one. the one i have now i think is a remington and it was only $60 or so and its perfectly acceptable for me. although i do spend a bit on hair products so that the straightning doesn't dry out and wreck my hair

i use a ceramic hot tools straightener and have been using it for years now. my hair is a bit damaged, i've seen worse, so i can't complain, lol. my mom uses a CHI-it's also pretty expensive, but i don't think as much as a GHD straightener. and my sister and SIL use an expensive one too (i think it was around $300) and it also curls your hair-so it's like two in one and it works great. :)
