When you make your soup, pack it in single serve sizes and freeze in case you get the craving again.

The last soup I had was woeful.....I'd stick to the slow cooker too. :hehe:
There's a really nice sweet potato soup recipe I found when I had my wisdom teeth out....if I find it again, I'll post it in the cook book.
And before anyone says anything, yes it involved cooking from scratch, yes I actually did cook it and no it wasn't aided by cans or bottles of any sort (unlike everything else I cook in my kitchen). :hehe:
Storm can you please let me know when you post it I always forget to look in that section!

Are you girls talking about the ones in the 1L clear packets in the fridge section of the supermarket? Haven't bought any but have been told by several people they are great. Of course, they may not be soup makers... :)

I know the day has passed when you were asking about soup for a specific time, but had an idea for the future.
First, pardon my ignorance but I know absolutely nothing about the brands carried in Australian grocery stores. So anyway, I buy a type of packaged soup that's put out, I think, by Lipton's as a base. It's quite a large pkg., contains pasta noodles - the ones that look like topless screws (stop laughing at my description), rice, dried veggies and chicken soup flavouring. There are a few variations, but I think the one I buy is called Country Chicken or something like that. I cook up a couple of large chicken breasts, usually with garlic, spices and lemon and/or orange juice as a marinade, diced them and dump them in the soup, along with some extra chicken stock (powder or tin), extra water and whatever else you like. More rice will also make it go further and you can just dump some instant rice right into the pot to save time. I would provide measurements, but I tend not to use them myself.
Once cooled, this soup tends to thicken and kind of gel up, but lasts for days in the fridge or can be frozen. When re-heating, just add some water and more chicken stock to counteract the diluted flavour and nuke or dump back on stove. Is very filling and tasty. Especially when sick!
