Some have a "naughty" in the evening, others at lunchtime....I bet some of you even have a naughty at breakfast time!!
Even Barbara would have a naughty from time to time......
Poll on junk food coming shortly.

Deep fried mars bar? Are you for real? Surely people don't really eat that stuff. I heard recently of a deep fried hamburger ... basically a meat patty in batter, deep fried :eww:
I don't think some of those options need to be junk food either ... Japanese, Thai, Lebanese etc all have healthier options (certainly healthier than a deep fried mars bar :hehe:)
I don't have a set time, but probably evenings, when we've had a busy week or husband is working late we might get takeaway (usually Thai etc).

We mostly have take a way of a friday, or saturday night, or if we have gone for a drive on a sunday for lunch maybe. Sometimes through the week, but ONLY if I am feeling really lazy, so that is not often, maybe once a month!!:D

I've never been game enough to have a deep fried Mars Bar. You are one gutsy woman MOC!!
Yes, agreed Naomi....some of the options, based on menu choices, don't have to be junk food as such.

So you just stick a mars bar in a deep fryer? Doesn't it melt?
thanks... i'm feeling quite virtuous after that.. i only checked pizza (once in a blue moon when we have a certain young guest for dinner) and Thai food - but i don't count Thai food as junk! besides, i usually have the warm thai beef salad, hardly a diet breaker! i missed checking chinese food, meant to.. again tho, i don't count that as junk, i never go for the deep fried stuff, and always bulk up with plain steamed veges, and no rice.. don't have either very often.. i've cut out Indian food too.
i've seen deep fried Mars bars on tv.. they are done in a heavy batter..

Nah, you can keep your mars bars, deep fried or plain. Would rather have maltesers (not deep fried though) eek!!!
Not surprised to see KFC and Maccas polling so well. Would rather have a naughty Thai or Chinese anyday though.

WE usually have some sort of take away on a thursday while doing the late night shopping.
A deep fries marsbar is a scottish delicacy and apparently very yummy. I havent been game to try one but maybe next time we get fish and chips i will give it a go.
Gee I am boring I only ticked 3 things!
Cherie

I am more boring than you Jen, I only ticked "Hot Chips".

Sorry Kekka, nothing from that list :eww:
I make my own rice at home but would never buy it anywhere. The only takeaway we eat here is Subway, and if the boys have fish & chips I'll have a souvlaki with uncooked bread so there is no oil :eww: and no sauce - just the meat, raw onion, tomato & lettuce and that is probably as naughty as I get :P

Just shows that I shouldn't assume in life. I wish I could keep to that kinda naughty!!

I'm lucky to eat takeaway once a week sometimes not even then, usually when I do my grocery shopping on a wednesday, I like subway as well or a good chinese meal.

Rachel

A mars bar is a chocolate bar we have here Kiki :)
My regular "naughty" is Thai... A thai curry noodle soup with seafood that I have almost every Saturday for lunch at my favourite restaurant :)

30-05-2008, 02:02 AM
so then what's so bad about it?! i'm not crazy about chocolate bars, but once in awhile i'd crave snickers or twix. :D
Rachel
30-05-2008, 03:13 AM
Do you have snickers bars kiki?
they are kinda like that but without the nuts and when they are fried they are covered in batter and then deep fried so not only are you getting all the calories of the chocolate bar you are also getting all that greasy fatty oil that the batter absorbs. I had one once and it was OK but too rich and heavy IYKWIM I am in no hurry to have one again! :hehe:

30-05-2008, 03:15 AM
ohh i see. i did like tim tams! :hehe:
Rachel

I prefer Tim Tam's to mars bars.. I always thought that the US would have mars bars, kind of like how coke is everywhere :dk:

30-05-2008, 03:20 AM
we probably do, but maybe it's just not popular here?! not sure. will check the candy sections the next time i go to the store! :hehe:
Rachel
30-05-2008, 03:25 AM
If you find one, will you try to fry it? :hehe:
miss kiki
30-05-2008, 03:31 AM
oh, so it's not fried when you buy it? you have to do it yourself?! uhm, if i have to do it myself then no. it'd probably taste worse if i do it on my own! :hehe:
Rachel
30-05-2008, 03:34 PM
Some fish and chips shops sell them and they are served hot so the inside is all warm and gooey... I don't know anyone who cooks them themselves but I assume it is doable :hehe:
Cherie
30-05-2008, 04:33 PM
Kiki, I would never fry a Mars bar, they are delicious just as they are...
It's like chocolate covered chewey Toffee.
God knows who the first person was, that thought to themselves.."Oh I think I'll fry this"
Remember when George (from Seinfeld) ate his with a knife and fork?
Oh what was that bar he was eating....?

So you just stick a mars bar in a deep fryer? Doesn't it melt?
It's kind of like how they do deep fried ice cream in some chinese places. They coat it with a batter then chuck it in really hot oil for all of two seconds. It really is a flash fry so it doesn't stay in the fryer long enough to melt.
Sorry Kekka, nothing from that list :eww:
I suspected as much otherwise you wouldn't be a self-confessed fitness fanatic hey Barbara. I only wish I could be half as disciplined. :hehe:

Probably the same kind of person who looked at a cow's udder and thought that they would squeeze it and drink whatever came out of it (courtesy of Calvin & Hobbes I believe). :P
We have Chinese or Thai maybe once or twice a month but tend to pick the more healthy options on the menu anyway. I like my regular Chinese place....they don't tend to make their foods as greasy as I know some places do. :)
Cherie I thought it was Elaine's boss and I'm pretty sure it was a Mars bar :hehe:
miss kiki
30-05-2008, 10:17 PM
we don't really have any fish and chips places here rach..not that i know of anyway. maybe they have one or two down by the shore. will have to see. :)

Nuts are very good for you!:)
I've never heard of a deep fried mars bar but I'm sure I would love it if I tried one.
deep fried anything is right off my menu these days! i used to love deep fried camembert.. the whole small round of it, egged and breadcrumbed, and deep fried to golden perfection.. yummy! but no more... :)
Jacky is right.. nuts are very good for a person, but not the salted ones.. i eat a small amount of walnuts every day, ever since i read they help raise HDL levels.. (the 'good' cholesterol)
