For me "normal" is 3-5 days and moderate to light flow. This time around it was HEAVY and brownish (yuk i know) to start and then went to a more pink colour. Its been a bit clotty and im still going on day 9. Is it normal to have a strange period once in a while or should i be more concerned?
Ez i would go and get checked 9 days is a bit long especially if it out of the norm for you, your iron level would be down.
Of you go to the Docs just to put your mind at ease!

I'd go to the dr's as well Ez, or at least give him a call and talk to him/her over the phone. It does seem a little on the long side, especially if they are still quite heavy.:)

Hi Ez,
Have you had any emotional trauma of late? That can impact duration. Yes, go to the doctor to check it out.
The length etc sounds like the periods of my youth. I'm now a 3 day light flow lady and have been for many years! :D

also it can be from stress. just a couple months ago i had my period twice in one month! that was a bit scary for me, but then again i knew i was stressed and the following month it only lasted my norm of 3-5 days like you. i would check it out though and call the doc's. just to be sure. it wouldn't hurt. :)

I had mine twice last month too and it was due to being ill I think. Go to the dr just in case.

Hey Ez... Brownish is not a good thing, it is old blood, so I would be seeing a doctor...Dont stress thou, it will be sorted out, but please go and see your GP...

I am usually quite regular ezmay but there have been a few times when strange things have happened.. usually when I have been a bit stressed. You should go to the doc though just to put your mind at ease :)

mes-old blood?! i just thought that sometimes it was normal for the blood to be a bit darker, but not much?! and even sometimes when mine is at it's end, sometimes it will look a bit pink? but to me that's normal, so idk..it doesn't happen all the time though..

I think it is the browny colour that she means kik about the old blood...

Thankyou all for the advice and concern. Well i rang the nurse on call number before making an appointment with the doc just in case it was nothing to really go to the doc about. She was very nice and told me that anything longer than 8 days is something to get concerned about and to see a doc by monday ( if i cant get an appointment any earlier) and i have to rest til further notice ie. no heavy lifting, standing for long periods etc. So it looks like im off to the docs.
Will keep you posted.

That is pretty normal for me if I have skipped a period for about 3 months....but if you had a regular period before this one, it sounds a bit odd.
