Night Crawler

Hi all. I don't know how many of you caught my brief mention of this in a post of mine to Holly a few days ago, but I have a 6 year old, black lab called Keiko (Kay-Ko). We recently found a large lump on her rump right near the base of her tail. We're not sure if it came up quickly or she just finally lost enough weight (she got really fat) on her new diet that we finally noticed it! Anyway, turned out to be a tumour and yesterday she had surgery. They removed the tumor and excised quite a bit of area under and around it in the hopes of catching any feelers. She's home now, has a huge bald spot. lumpy stitches and a temporary drain peeking out. The surgery went really well and she doesn't appear to be in any pain. I have to wait a week or two to get the pathology report back from the other side of the country to find out if it was cancer or not. If it is, hopefully they got it all. On the upside, things would have been alot worse if the tumour had been internal as happened with our last lab. (By the way, Miss Kiki - I got the name right I hope - thank you for your lovely condolences and well wishes. Much appreciated.)
So for now, all is well and I'm so glad to have her back home. They had kept her for one night for observation, but even with hubby and three cats, I still missed her terribly. Most worried about how she was coping as the only place she's ever slept away from home is at Grandma's (my Mom), and with me being unable to work for the majority of her life, she is not used to not have Mommy around! She's also a huge wimp and drama queen with a very loud whine when scared or mad. So I was more than a bit worried that she would drive the staff at the hospital insane. As it turns out, she saved the drama for me and was quiet as a mouse! Typical kid hey? Four legged or two, they always behave better for others!
Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Holly, if you see this, how YOU doing?
Cheers!
