View Full Version : Kevin Brockmeier
Im almost finished reading his book "The Brief History of the Dead' - I ploughed through it to begin with and now Im at the 'stale' point. I have 3 chapters left and the guy is just DRONING on and on. I cant stand it. But I have to get to the end.
Anyone else read/reading this one or any of his other books? Notice a 'droning on and on' pattern in any of his other books?

Haven't read it but the title is intriguing. I finished reading Lord of the Rings a couple of months ago.. a lot of "droning on and on" going on there.
Well thats what got me to pick it up, the title. The day I bought it, at the first opportunity I had I sat down and just flew through it. Luckily my son was having an extra long nap that afternoon!
Its still interesting, the story line is still interesting, its reaching its climax but just in between the way hes writing the paragraphs. One whole chapter with only a few bits of dialogue - thats driving me nuts. The only chance I get to read more often than not is at night before bed but I only get to read a couple of pages because the droning sends me off to sleep. Its annoying.

Can't say I have read that book, but I don't think it will be on my reading list...hope you finish it soon and you can read something that you can't put down...Jodi Picoult is always good, I can read one of her books in two days...
Hope that the outcome is good and that you feel good once you have read it...
