Our back fence is wood and we can see into the pool next door I have just trimmed the trees and it is more open now.
I was thinking about either shadecloth along the fence or those brushed thicket(sp) the stuff that looks like sticks?
But I have seen the brushed fences that look a bit worse for wear after a time?

If you have trees there normally that screen the back fence, shadecloth might be ideal because it will provide privacy when the trees are trimmed and when they are full grown you won't even notice it is there. Plus it is cheaper to replace if/when it starts looking a little ratty and worse for wear. :)

Alternatively you could plant a creeper to cover the fence but I've always steered away from those because of their prolific growth tendencies. :hehe:

I've never likes those Thicket type fences.....what is hiding in them?????
I have Bamboo screens nailed to the inside (of cyclone fencing) of my Pool area...less places for greeblies to make a home and good screening.

Jen the lady next door put up one of those brushed thicket fences & it looked okay for about a week then honestly it statred to fade & as it was higher then the fence that she wired it to it is bending over & she has creepers on her fence which has now grabbed on the thicket fence & is dragging it off, & she actually put it up so Maggie could'nt see her cat & bark at it but she can still see through it. i would go for shade cloth if its going to be behind trees anyway

Thanks girls yeh I thought the brushed thicket would go a bit ratty?
I think you can get shadecloth with different percentages of thickness I would like to be able to not see through at all.
I think her grandkids swim in the nuddy they are not little kids either I looked up one day and had a bare butt looking at me through the fence as he was diving in the pool!:uhno:

I think shade cloth might look odd, but that's my opinion.

Where the trees that were there really straggly or are you just waiting for them to grow up again?

There are plenty of smallish shrubs you could plant instead. Mini lily pillies that only grow 2metres tall might do the trick.

We have the brushed fence behind our pool, for privacy reasons, it works great, ( it was already here when we bought the house) , it does look a bit ratty but does the job, when we can afford it would love to do somthing else...

our back fence is only a wire one, but we have a hedge of Photinia Robusta (was like that when we bought the house) that we cannot see through and it's grown even higher without us cutting it, it grows fast and thick very quickly.. it gives us full privacy along the back.. actually, the quotes for 6ft high colourbond along the sides has come out a lot cheaper than i imagined, if the hedge ever dies, that's what i will be going for here..

Oh that is nice Tina, I like that.
It should be able to go on top of most fences I would imagine.
