Once my tax is back this year I am buying a brand spanking new vacuum. DH usually buys me these things (because I prefer a practical present and I love new appliances!), but this time I'm buying!

So I don't know what to do. I would LOVE a Dyson, BUT you can't wash a floor with a Dyson. I used to have a Vax that I loved, it died one day at the age of 7 *sob sob*. I think I would really like another Vax too, but this time the pets one...

But then I was thinking, there must be other good vacuums out there that are tough and vacuum/wash floors too.... is there?

WWYD??

I came across this fab website recently -
www.productreview.com.au

Very helpful in making a decision. They have just about everything there, with info on the item, plus people who own the items can leave their comments on theitem's performance and service back up.

We are going to do the same - I've just decided after reading your post :hehe:

Whatever you do, don't get a Wertheim 3180 (http://www.godfreys.com.au/vacuum_cleaner_information.php?id=24&cat=2&is_subcat=0) They work well for about 12 months, then they are hopeless. I went out 2 years ago I think it was, to by a Dyson, and was talked into getting one of these because it had the big powerhead blah blah. I loved it when I first bought it home but it really hasn't lasted long :(

Good luck with your search/purchase. Let us know what you end up with. Me, I'm getting an upright dyson :D

I just had a stickybeak on the Product Review site at your model vac, Barbara, and the 3 owners who had left feedback all hated theirs too!

I just hate vacuuming, full stop!! LMAO

i got a new vacumn cleaner not long ago - its a bagless which i like although it is so disgusting seeing what comes off your floor. Its a hoover but it was only a cheapish one and it doesnt seem to pick up everything.

We have a dyson. We had a bottom of the range one for many years and I loved it. Then we upgraded to a top of the range model and I regret it. It's not that it doesn't work well, it does ... but all the things I love about the old one, in addition to it working well, are not there. It's heavier and more awkward to pull around, the cord gets twisted around it all the time, it's just not as fuss-free. :dk:

I have a 5yo purple Dyson and it still works well. It has a motor head as well as a non-motorised one for floorboards/tiles. It seems to pick up the pet hair really well and the zorb powder that came with it is good for vacuuming up stuff like cat vomit off carpet.

As for the washing, well I just use a mop for the tiles and get in a professional carpet cleaner every couple of years for the rest. I wouldn't mind getting rid of all the carpet though and just get a floating floor put in so I don't have to bother with the carpet cleaning. :)

We came to a decision about this finally! YAY!! :y:

We are going to get another VAX. This time the Family VAX (must be the same as yours Supa, cause it's black).

We were so happy with the VAX we used to have, so decided to buy another one of them :)

Feels so much better knowing as soon as that tax cheque hits my bank this year, I will finally (after 3 loonnnnggggg years) have a decent vacuum again!!! :D
