Hip, hip, hurrah...The results are in, stitches are out and radar dish is off! Fantastic, great and amazing news! The tumour was mostly just tissue, but did have a small amount cancer, BUT she is now officially cancer free. The vet, who was actually excited to share such good news with me, said that we could not have asked for a better prognosis! (Someone asked what kind of dog Keiko is and I forgot her name - she is a black lab.)
Other good news on this front too. Due to her allergies that cause her skin to feel like it's on fire, she has been on Prednisone her whole life. All previous vets have said this would likely shorten her life by as much as five or more years by shutting down her kidneys and liver. But the only way to make her comfortable is with these steroids. As he is a new doctor, I asked him and he said this isn't always true. He had two other labs with same issues and medication (is very common with labs) and they lived to be 12 and 14. He personally predicts a long life for Keiko. I asked if the cancer could return and he said it was unlikely though not impossible. But that if it did, it would likely return in the same spot making it easier to identify and chop out!
Oh girls, I am SO HAPPY!  :y:
Big thanks to everyone for all their support. I send you all hugs and Keiko sends you big, sloppy kisses!
