What is your favourite item of furniture?

I love my dining table. It's not a good piece of furniture, it's hardy (covered in two-pack and 2.1mtrs long - too wide for the room but that's ok). I can have a dinner with candles dripping everywhere and then scrape it with a paintscraper the next day to clean it up. (Memories eh Alexa! :hehe:)

The entertainment unit or my bed....depending on the time of day :)

I love my bed, and my loungeroom entertainment unit.

My bed is the only furniture item we have ever bought brand new, and I love it. It didn't cost a huge amount, but *I* picked it, I didn't have to settle for the best I could get.

And my ent. unit... my friend gave it to me. It's huge, hard wood and I love it :) PLUS I can take the handles off the doors and the [-]ferals[/-] kids can't get into my treasured stuff.

That's a very easy question for me...our bed

I love it! I love snuggling up with a good book and the radio with the furries gathered around me during the day, especially when I am not feeling too well..oh and I love it at night too...:hehe:

To hard for me to chose just the one, as we added on to the house we had to buy lots of furniture to fill the new rooms, but say if Hubby and I divorced and we had to go halves I would want the coffee table it is huge and chunky with three big iron bar things and bolts, but then I love these two unit things to Don't know what you would call them I have one in the kitchen and one in the lounge, oh and I want the doors to, and the bathroom mirror :headh:

Ummm, I love my corner loungesuite cause I can snuggle up in it. I love my big dining room table cause it seats 8 easily, and my wall unit, cause it matches my table and its got leadlight bits in it, and my nan helped me choose both of those items:)

It would have to be my leather couch - I just love it - it's big and comfy and has square arms so I can put my cuppa there or the laptop if need be and it just looks so nice.

My bedroom suite comes in at a really close 2nd

the computer desks.. thick frosted glass top, silver metal legs that come to gether in a V shape meeting at a tubular central piece.. we have matching desks, and have bought the entertainment units to match in frosted glass and silver metal.. which also match the dining set.. one day we will swap out the horrible old black lounge too.. something in grey, maybe with metal details if we are lucky.. :)

I would have to say our bed, because we waited 18 years before we could afford to get a new one. It's over 12 years old now but it's still the most comfy cosy mattress i've ever experienced. Ahhh bliss...

Our leather couch would come a close second - called Samuel L. Jackson because it's very long, very black and very cool! :D Samuel L. is also the best spot on earth for an arvy nap.

Oh! I nearly forgot, because it's still in storage, but Poss made a ripper triangular coffee table out of solid jarrah when we were first married. It's beautiful ... and man, incredibly heavy! He did a great job - a shame he never made any more furniture!!

I really like your bed too Patricia. You are so good, keeping the pretty pillows on it - I would do that the first night, then they'd live under the bed! (I'm so lazy)

Three pieces in particular:

my bed because hubby just bought it for me for our last anniversary and I don't seem to spend enough time in it lately...

my recliner because it's where I feed and sleep with my babies

my 'formal' dining table because hubby made it for me when we were first together because I told him I'd always wanted a large square timber table that could sit 8 comfortably and 12 comfortably enough if we needed.

I love our bed, it's king size and has a latex mattress. Love love love it.
I love the cot we've used for both our babies. It's not that special (especially with the teeth marks I discovered on it recently, grrr) but the memory of how exciting it was when we went and chose it makes it special to me.
And our armchairs/sofa are pretty cool, the arms are wide enough for a laptop or pizza box :P And the microsuede cleans up the many spills very easily.

I agree...yay for microsuede couches.

Cassie sleeps on the three seater and Millie on the two seater and they both say they are FAB! :hehe:

I love my bed. It's quite new and both hubby and I love it to death. It has a beautiful leather bedhead that is just perfect when you want to read.

I also love our corner suite leather lounge which is also quite new. It's so easy to keep clean and still smells beautiful after a good clean

My favourite piece of furniture is our lounge suite microsuede, went to a stack of stores before we settled on it had it for a long time now looks a bit shabby but the frame and everyone thing else is still great, when I'm sick and can't breathe sleep in the chair, Aidan falls asleep all the time on it, it's so comfortable might get it recovered, second is our treadle sewing machine very old but you can still sew on it if you want to, my mum knows how to use it, have my collection of unicorns on it. My mum has my grandmas sideboard that I bought for her, it's sort of a family heirloom I'll get that one day, grew up with that as a kid used to get lollies off it that my grandma put there for us.

Am enjoying this thread very much! Thanks to everyone for sharing. Now .. the questions! hehe

Naomi, what brand is your mattress? Our is latex too - AirTec - but is no longer available. I would like to keep something in mind for when we replace it one day. No way can we go back to springs!

Cherie, hats off to you for teaching yourself to read music and play. No matter how hard I try, those notes will never look like anything other than fat ants wandering over lines ... :hehe:

RedRobyn, how did you come to buy your grandmother's sideboard for your mother?

My parents divorced when I was very young and we lived with my paternal grandparents, grandma had a blackwood sideboard and my mum always loved it as did the whole family, when my grandparents moved to Queensland they sold off all their furniture, we lived in a flat at the time and couldn't fit it in so I bought it for my mum, she loves it, worth a lot of money antique dealer bought a lot of their other stuff, didn't give grandma a lot of money for it as she wouldn't take it, mum said it's mine if she can't have it any more

I like my computer desk but its too big for the area its in but I love my desk chair.
My fave item of furnature would have to be my buffet and hutch. I was a housewarming present from my grandparents but i got to pick it. These are the only new furnature item we have but my next thing is a new bed. We are currently using DFs bed he has had since he was 13 (now 25).
