Hey Miss K! That book you recommended is terrific! I love the sense of humour in it, and of course Ed and the Doorman. Can't wait to see how it pans out ... Quirky - I loooove quirky! :D

The Messenger by Markus Zusak (Think is called I Am the Messenger in the U.S. - is that right Miss K?)

Yes I did! I'm so sad now that there's no more of it to read ... I galloped thru it, couldn't put it down.

Yay! at least I have The Book Thief to go on with :)

I found them both in the library Miss K. I wish I had bought The Messenger now, it's the kind of book I love to have on hand to lend out. I might look on eBay again, now I know the name is slightly different down here.

I have actually tried to read The Book Thief before, but dismissed it as 'too clever'. Now I understand the author I will keep reading, although I must admit I'm finding it hard to get into. But it's early days yet :)

The Messenger just grabbed me from page one and I kept saying to Poss "You would like this" then disappear off to read. Every now and then he would call out "What are you laughing at?" so now I am reading it to him (he's not much of a reader but enjoys being read to. Very tolerant of him - I can't STAND being read to!! It's too slow LOL) and he's liking it too.

So thanks again Miss K. You rock!

Hi. Would one of you mind posting or sending me a quick blurb about the premise of the "The Messanger" book?

The Messenger - Markus Zusak

Protect the Diamonds
Survive the Clubs
Dig Deep Through the Spades
Feel the Hearts

Meet Ed Kennedy - cab driving prodigy, pathetic card player and useless at sex. He lives in a suburban shack with is dog, the Doorman, and he's nervous-in-love with Audrey. His life is one of peaceful routine and incompetence - until he inadvertantly stops a bank robbery.

That's when his first Ace turns up.

That's when Ed becomes the Messenger.

Chosen to care, he makes his way through town, helping and hurting (where necessary) until only one question remains. Who's behind Ed's mission?

A cryptic journey filled with laughter, fists and love.

Now go get it right now! LOL
