For Alexa from Kekka (Kekka is the owner of much bigger calves than Alexa I might add!!)
I hadn't worn boots for more than 20 years. A shop assistant taught me how to put them on after I challenged her to find a pair that'd fit.
These instructions are for knee length boots only (not the "CFM" anklet style boots of the 1980's). If you have thigh length boots I don't want to know about it!! (LMAO)
Put on half stockings/hose/tights or thin knee high socks. This makes it easier for the boot to slide up.
Undo zipper to the base
Pop foot in and do up boot to the ankle and STOP
Assuming it's a thin/supple leather, push done-up section down towards the foot and hold in place (it will wrinkle up)
Pull zipper up the next two or three inches and STOP
Again, push done-up section of boot towards foot and hold in place
A this stage I can pull up the remaining zipper to the top of the boot
Stand up and pull the entire zipped section up towards your knee
Simple!! :D
Hope this helps Alexa! :waves:
I once saw on Trinny & Susannah (they have a great website about dressing but their boot instructions aren't on it!)....they pulled up difficult boots with the assistance of wrapping a thin plastic shopping bag around the lower leg, doing up the boot. Then by standing and pulling at the shopping bag on each leg the boots came up too. Whatever works for you!!
Footnote to all: a shoe man can insert an elastic panel in any boots if you've put on substantial weight....not cheap but worth it if you've got some really fab boots.
Some boots can be purchased with an elastic panel already in place.
