Hey everyone, well now that I joined up at the library again I'm going to try and make it a habit to get some books to read. Currently I mostly read mills and boons books but I'm getting sick of them and they are expensive. Now I mostly like romance books and romantic comdeies are great. I hate sci fi, don't mind a little murder and mystery but only at day time LMAO So if anyone has any good books to reccomend it would be great. Thanks

Sidney Sheldon books are good - they have a little bit of everything in them. I always recommend these & have bought most of them as well :Hehe:

Marian Keyes writes easy-to-read, fun novels that are basically a good girly read. There's a bit of romance, but it's more than just a M&B type plot. She has a few written about the Walsh sisters, but it's not really a series - you can read them in any order because they are novels in their own right.
They're good because they aren't too deep and literary so you can pick them up and put them down when you have time. They look long but aren't a hard read at all.
Maeve Binchy (who wrote Circle of Friends) also does a similar thing, hers do tend to be very long though. Cathy Kelly is another.
I like Patricia Cornwell's crime novels, they are a bit heavier and lots more blood and gore. (One of her main characters is a ... what's the name of someone who does post-mortems? Forensic pathologist?)
Steven King for creepiness.

Oh ok cool, thanks for the idea's. I actually just sold Trace by Patricia Cornwell on ebay, was a good book. I can read so easily and quite fast but I still get the whole story, no idea where i got it from lol. Anyways I'll write these down and take the list to the library with me next week.

angie you'll find a huge selection of romance books and they do have mills and boons as well depending on the size of your library, you could easily spend 1-2 hrs there looking around,i know ours is big. so good luck.

If you want something different, J.D. Robb writes about a homicide department set in the future - 2058 is when it starts. It's a good series, but I would definately recommend starting with the first one as what happens with the characters in the books is in order even though each murder is solved by the end of the book. (I hope that makes sense.)
Jennifer Weiner is great too. She wrote, "In Her Shoes", "Good in Bed", "Little Earthquakes" and "Good Night Nobody". Very good books, quick and easy to read.
I also like Debbie Macomber.

CrashTestWoman and Supa were telling me about Stephanie Plum stories (by Janet Evanovich) the other day, so I got one out at the library yesterday and it's great.
Stephanie is a bounty hunter working for her cousin Vinnie, a bail bondsman and the writing style is quite humorous. The story lines are mystery/crime.
I just read a bit where Stephanie is describing her car, a Honda CRX. She goes "I'd recently developed a dime-sized lesion on my exhaust pipe, but if I played Metallica loud enough I could hardly hear the muffler noise."
That should give you a some idea what the books are like LOL
