Yep that's what i'm doing at the moment.
You ladies know (well most of you) that our daughters peditrician said our daughter (9 now)has trates of Asperger, i am sick of doctors giving us a run around, we go through a daily drama of Soiling herself, very emotional, depressed, not sleeping, school work not up to par oh the list goes on.
I emailed a Dr called Tony Attwood (if anyone oknows of him) in Brisbane & he has the highest success rate of diagnosing girls as it's really hard.
I asked for his advise & he got back to me giving me 3 people i could go see who he recommands
So i rang a lady up at Blaxland (blue mountains) & i got an appointment for 26th April
:nana::nana::nana:
Now all i got to hope is that they find something as we are living on the edge at the moment

As a mum of an Aspie kid I know your frustration Mel and it's gotta be even more frustrating not being able to get a diagnosis because she's a girl. Tony Attwood is the most highly regarded doctor in the field of Aspergers in Australia not just Brisbane, I've heard a lot about him and what he does but haven't actually read his books or anything (probably should huh...) so you're on the right track if he's given you referrals.

Good luck mate :hug:

Appointment goes for 1.5 hours....
& she's actually going to speak to
kim not me (every other specialist has only ever spoke
to me)

So it's a wait & see, i hope we find out on the day the
results...

Mel, I remember when all this started and I gave you the link to his website....I am so happy for you that you contacted him and that there is someone down here who can help you.
For others here, Aspergers Syndrome (falls under the Autism umbrella) is usually diagnosed in males therefore it is harder to get a definitive diagnosis for a girl, but the support and taining is the same.
I was a TAS for a 8yo girl a few years back and there is so much support and assistance available nowadays for your daughter at school and of course for yourselves.
If I can help in any way, just yell.
