hi,i was wondering if anyone could help me. For the last four years i've been suffering from severe lower abdominal pain. For the first 2 years the doctors kept saying it was period pain as it kept getting worse and i only had it with my period. However, last year it became very severe and i've tried strong pain killers, different contraceptive methods and still nothing helped. So i had a laproscopy and nothing showed up.... not long after my pain started showing up every day making it difficult to work.. its been that way since. Yesterday i had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy as they thought it was Crohns disease, however they found nothing ... again.Has anyone experienced pain like this or do they know of anyone who has?I am so confused :help:

I'm guessing you have had your ovaries checked for cysts? I really don't know, how awful for you. Doesn't sound right to me. Have you been sent to a specialist, gyno? Hope you find an answer.

yeah ive seen specialists and they have put me on special diets but it hasnt helped. They checked for endometriosis but didnt detect any. I'm starting to wonder whether hormones can cause it???

That's possible, thought of seeing a natropath? They are very good at picking up things that Dr's don't. Not to say don't continue with your Dr's, but give it a go, they do a live blood screen too and can pick things up in that. You can only try good luck.

There is also an article in this months Madison about a women suffering from it...
Endometriosis is a common and often painful condition. It is thought to affect approximately 10 per cent of women (one in 10) at some stage during their menstruating years. It can occur anytime, from when periods start, right up to the time of menopause.
Definition
Endometriosis occurs when the tissue that normally lines the uterus (the endometrium) is found in sites outside the uterus. The misplaced tissue implants itself onto the surface of the tissue or organ where it has been deposited and begins to grow and function.
Symptoms can include:
Period pain
Abdominal, back and/or pelvic pain
Heavy or irregular bleeding
Bowel or bladder symptoms
Infertility
Premenstrual symptoms
Tiredness
Mood changes
Bloating
I would be seeking a second, third opinion until you can find a solution to your problem, I would not continue to suffer.

You poor thing. That sounds horrible :(
I would be getting a second or third opinion just like Alexa said. Doctors can make mistakes too. Having said that, if a laproscopy hasn't found anything, hmmm bit weird. Such an invasive surgery list you've done already!
Perhaps if the doctor's have given you something to go with - i would suggest seeing another specialist - if it's like period pain, i would probably go to another gyno/obst and take your results with you to have a closer look.
Don't let a doctor tell you it's only period pain - be persistent. They can make mistakes too. Being in so much pain - yeah definately get some second opinions.
You know - i've had to go through something similar recently - and my gyno told me, something like PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome) is something that can cause similar pain - and the worst thing is, even though the symptoms are there, they're not always exclusive - it's a syndrome because it varies between person to person. You know?
I would definately get another opinion. Poor chick :( I hope you find some answers soon.
