I don't understand, this problem happens to me all the time. I lose a sock and I can't find it again :headh:!! How weird is that, I know for a fact I wore them at the same time.. And I truly believe I put them in the washer at the same time. Everytime when i'm pegging my socks I often lose a sock between washing and pegging! It is driving me nuts.. Does this happen to any of you? And can someone please help me prevent the problem I have??

I don't know how we could help you do this..do you think it comes down to tidiness, and keeping the clothes together? I never have this problem. So not much help I guess.

I'm very careful with my washing but I still lose socks..I think there is a black hole and they get sucked into it.

Easy, don't wear socks :D

I've trained my boyfriend to put them into a large laundry bag when he takes them off his feet; then when its half full I chuck it into the wash. That way *knock knock* I don't lose socks.

I don't generally lose mine, or the childrens, socks. My husband often lost socks though so now I just buy bulk in black socks, same style. Occasionally I have one left over that I put aside until I wash the next load, and when they start getting holey, I just buy a bunch more.

I used to keep all the odds in a clothes basket until I realised the pairs were never coming back so I turfed them and that's when I started buying all the same socks.

i lose mine from time to time also.
i tend to take my socks off in bed if i'm starting to get warm..and if i'm already hot, i don't wear socks to bed, so i'll find socks at the bottom of the bed, or hanging off the side, or on the floor near the bed..sometimes i find my socks around the house too. kids are the same way. sometimes they forget to pick up after themselves after taking a shower, and then i find socks behind the toilet and under the bathroom sink.

OMG I had this problem for years. I think there's a parallel dimension where all the socks go... AAARGH! But I saw a new product in Coles the other day that I use and I don't have this problem any more.

They're called Sockodiles. Cute name but they really work. They're just pegs but they are colour coded, and they have a hook which means you don't have to peg each individual sock on the line which saves heaps of time.

You should try them Lisa! :)

Wouldn't work for me.....my son's socks are spread around the house, in and under furniture, as he takes them off...he is worse than his Father.
Always an odd number of the things when I do a wash.

I found sockodiles at Safeway/Woolworths. Tried them. Bought one pack - pink for hubby hehe ... worked a treat. Trained him to peg his socks every night when he takesem off.

Must admit I washem .... the joy for me is when they go thru wash and then I put all the wash in the basket, I juuuust takem out and they clip straight on line .. no searching for partners .. no using 2 pegs. Thye have a nifty hook on side.

So I bought 10 more packs, extra for hubby and some for kids. I think I save about 100 hours a week pegging, sorting, arguing with hub about where his socks are.:dance3:

So I am not going mad, over the years I have often had a plastic shopping bag hanging on the back of the laundry door... Yes Menboys were the culrpits!!!

With 2 sons and a hubby I had odd socks everywhere... I would sort through the bag every week or so and match up all the odd socks but there were always some left, so after a while out they would go.

I really think there is a sock gremlin who invades the washing machine and munches them up.

Must admit since the boys have moved out problem just about solved.:dance3:

The socks are with the pens.

You could safety pin the pairs together when you wash them?

I just put the odd ones in the drawer and they usually meet up with their partner again.
