Tissues or Hankies??
Strange question but BF and I both suffer TERRIBLE hay fever so we are sneezing and sniffling constantly. Hence the debate. He has always used tissues, I have always used hankies. Coming into Cane cutting season they start to burn off all the cane rubbish and the smoke drives us both crazy. BF practically sends us broke with the amount of tissues (well actually I gave up on tissues so toilet paper) he uses to blow his nose.
I have finally got him onto using hankies. Not only are we saving money but it means we don't get dry sore noses like you do when constantly rubbing with paper.

Most definitely tissues when I need to use them at all.
Unfortunately I know a lot of people (mostly elderly) who use hankies and then don't practice good hand hygiene after using them. There's nothing more unattractive than seeing someone blow their snotty nose on a hankie, stuff it in their pocket and then want to touch you or something else that you are likely to come in contact with - without washing their hands! And the habit of stuffing it in the bra strap makes me want to vomit. :eww:
Don't get me wrong, the people who practice poor hand hygiene with hankies would do it with tissues regardless but at least they are going straight in the bin. Not many people I know who do use hankies walk around with a washbag to put them in afterwards. :dk:

I have an empty pocket in my bag I tuck them. But I don't use normal hankies anyway. I'm not into those stupid thin cotton ones. I make my own big thick ones out of rags so they don't just get wet and leak!

Tissues more hygenic and practical used to use hankies years ago but haven't done so for a long time..I carry a small bottle of anti- bacterial cleaner with me I'm not paranoid but I work in a supermarket and catch public transport in a dodgy suburb.

I have severe allergies all the time....I ticked the tissue box as I couldn't imagine washing the ridiculous amount of hankies I would need!

I use tissues.. But I hate it when the blooming things are left in pockets. when you do a wash load.

Hankies to me should be band, think they are dirty disgusting things, I am with Stormy on this and what is worse is when you see some one blow there nose and half an hour later pull out the same snot rag and search for a clean bit to blow again :headh:

Im vote for tissues.
DF uses jankies and I refuse to waash them. Phlegm and snot are the only bodily excrement I cant handle. I could barely read the posts in this thread without gaging.
I am a huge fan of the "blow and throw" method.
I have been known to use paper towel and loo roll as well when i get a cold or flu but generally i use the kleenex with the aloe and eucalyptus and it doset hurt the nostrals.

I use tissues but I rarely need them now. I used to suffer from hayfever and stuffed up nose chronically but I asked my GP about it and she put me on to Rhinocorte spray. Initially I used the stronger prescription dose but now I only use the over-the-counter dosage, and I don't need that much any more. I can't believe how effective it has been for me and I can't recommend it highly enough. I can breath through my nose freely all the time now and my snoring has ceased. After using it for a while I found that the effect carries over and I only have to use it maybe a week or so every few months now. So maybe give it a try, it is excellent.

I see your problem with him using so many tissues, hankies would suit him better,
my Dh uses hankies for the same reason.
I use tissues if i have a cold.
mum only uses hankies, pretty ones with embroidery.
tissues
hankies are germ laden infested pieces of cloth :eww:

Thanks... BF has been to the doc lately and he has put him on some tablets that apparently stop it, they are a preventative and a nose spray I think it might be the same one. They don't stop the allergies compeltely but they are good. It has made a big difference. For the first time in I can't remember how long we have not gone through an eight pack of toilet rolls in a week :D.
Tissues when I'm sick so I can throw out nasty germs
But hankies if I'm off to the movies to see a tearjerker or am just having a cry. they're so much stronger and tears destroy tissues too quickly!
