i've never had allergies until yesterday..that's when it hit me.

-the sneezing.
-the runny nose. it's like freakin' water pouring out! and it doesn't give me a chance to run for a tissue!
-my head feeling so heavy.
-the scratchiness in my throat.

does this mean that i'll have it every year now?! NOOO!!!

It might not be allergies, you sound like you are getting a bug. I would gargle with betadine gargel mix, drink lots of water, get rest if you can, use cold and flu tablets to get through the day - night time ones for the night. You can use a decongestant to stop the runny nose - I think demazin is one. Take care of yourself Miss Kikki

I used to have chronic hayfever, and yours sounds more like a cold - hope so, because you don't want chronic hayfever. Cold tablets work well, and Rhinocorte spray keeps the nose clear so you can breath. Taking fish oil tablets and drinking hot lemon and honey will help relieve the symptoms. Good luck!

no fever cris..

oh no! but it's not that mucus type blowing the nose and that's what i normally get when i'm sick..and i barely ever get sneezing when i have a cold..so i don't know..

am taking allergy pills and they've dried me up a bit, so i'm still thinking it's allergies. if it doesn't subside by next week, i'll have to go back to the doctor's i guess! the doctor put me on antibiotics and a yeast infection pill, so i don't know..

It could be either, I hope for your sake its just a cold cronic hayfever is the worst (see my hankies vs tissue pole :P)! Have you started using a new cleaner or deoderant or something in your house. It might just be one thing you are allegic to get rid of that and hopefully you will be fine.

I had something similar to that a couple of years ago and it took me 8 weeks to get over. My nose was running like a tap and in fact I overdosed on antihestimines just trying to get my nose to dry up. I had to have two strong courses of antibiotics before I could get rid of it but have not had it again since, so it really is the call of your doctor I suppose. Hope you feel better soon.......:comfort:

no, i haven't used a new deoderant or cleaner..same as i always use..

i still think it's allergies.
my cough isn't too bad-i guess the antibiotics are helping!
and my nose is LOTS better today-THANKFULLY! i haven't blown it much today..it was more once every other hour than every 10 minutes! :hehe:
my nose hurts though!

Are you alls better now? If you were thinking allergies you should get one of those rast tests done, its just a blood test but will tell you what and how much your allergic to stuff, i get allergies and they suck ass! and mine were adult onset ones, i never had them as a kid - go figure huh

I suffer servere allergies and live on pills which sucks
I had the blood tests to find out what and so far have had three tests done only to find out I'm allergic to fish, egg, nuts - including coconut, grass, pollen from 6 different plants, dust mites etc.....My doc decided to stop there as she stated I should live in a bubble LMAO
Not fair.............

LMAO I do try to stay away from what I can but unlike food its impossible to stay away from grass, pollen and dust mites! I do wash sheets weekly, buy new pillows regularly, I vacuum everyday and basically I hang onto my pill packet at all times LMAO

Yep they are the pills...........I have tried nearly every one on the market as your body gets used to them and they cease to work really well.
Long term use is something I have to deal with and my doctor thinks that while its not good its all I have for quality of life. I try to use the harsh, keep you awake for days (drivers license needed to purchase LMAO) ones only when absolutely needed and just try to get thru on the softer anti histamines......I have to say I always have a tissue in my hands and a running nose which usually gives me sinus infections, headaches etc
My allergies are my best friends, NOT LMAO

Thats rough!!! My allergies are bad but not that bad, i think im on the highest rank for dust mites poo in the 6+++ and the animal dander about a 2 (from the rast test) so the allergy stuff in my blood is really high, the iGe - it was more that 5 times the normal last time!!!! But my symptoms are short and sharp, i get the obvious sneezes and wheezy itchy throat immediately if i go near a cat or stir up some dust but if i have a big drink of water and go away from the allergen it all settles down within 30minutes to an hour. The worst it gets me is it just makes me tired and sometimes gives me heart palps and anxiety insomnia but coz the runny nose and watery eyes dont last long its pointless taking the antihistamines.

Have you ever tried those desensitising shots you can do?

I've never had any type of shots discussed with me actually....maybe I should enquire when I go to the doctors this week, hmmm

All but two of my allergys are in the highest you can go rank :(

Yeah you get them with the allergy specialist, he makes up vials of your allergen and then your dr give you the shots every week for 6 weeks or something...i went to do it but on the consent form it sorta read as though it wasnt that effective, you know with statements such as no guarantee that it will work or that any positive effects would be long lasting blah blah blah so i wasnt up for paying for the maybe as like i say they are bad but im not in desperation with them, iv always been really curious to hear from anyone whos had that treatment tho hence me asking you ;)
