As I sit here eating the leftovers of last nights 'chinese'...I got to wondering what everyones fav is when it comes to take-aways?

Oh and why does chinese always taste better the next day? :Hehe:

LMAO I love macca's and KFC although I hardly ever have them anymore. Oh and I adore the hot chips and gravy and pluto pups from the local take away shop near Gav's school. We have them every now and then

Yes Di I know that feeling...*she says as she wipes the dripping sweet and sour sauce off her chin...and thinks about another piece of peppermint choc slice for dessert!*

Depends on what I feel like. Probably Chinese, Thai, Indian in that order. Simon's not a big fan of Chinese, he prefers Indian but we often compromise on Thai. Prawn green curry and Chicken cashw nuts with boiled rice. Yummo.

Angie...we got the chinese at Li's ...do you know it...on the corner there near Dominios pizza and stuff....it seemed ok ...never been there before.

I must tell you about the lovely little chinese lady that served us...she was a tiny little dainty thing all done out in a very nice chinese style outfit....but....
it was topped off by a very dashing Rip C*rl beanie.....very very stylish

I use to love all of the Asian foods. Can't have them now without asking the chef's a million questions first. (Gluten Free person)

Eat up for me please. Enjoy. It doesn't bother me you all talking about food I can't have. No, you don't have to consider my feelings, it's fine, really! Go right ahead. LMAO

lol Bev - ok we'll have Thai tonight and toast you! (actually Thai sounds delish - haven't had takeaway for ages since I've been doing the healthy lifestyle thing).

chinese and pizza taste better the next day just because they can
and they taste even better if you eat it at midnight with no one watching, with your head in the fridge at the same time

Angie I am sure on the odd occasion that we have had KFC that there hasn't been any leftover to put in the fridge for a midnight snack...but I will take your word for it :P

Naomi - thank you for considering my feelings......NOT.

I doubt that Asian food will add much to your waistline or hurt you much. I think it's fairly healthy food.

Go ahead, have Thai. Think of me. No, I mean it, it's alright. Don't worry about me. I will be fine.:crying:

Patricia

Bev..couldn't you tell the chef at the Thai/Chinese takeaway that you are gluten intolerant and they could make up a special dish or two just for you?

Foodies are much more aware of peoples allergies and things these days and I am sure most would try to accomodate your needs. Especially in cusines like those above where mostly fresh produce are used.

Patricia. By the time I get through the language barrier I'm usually tired. Then with the things that are marinated ie meats, they have to go and read the ingredients, then if there is a sauce type thing that goes with it, they have to know what goes into it. I could go on for days. Most things have wheat in them as thickening agents and I really don't like annoying chef's that much. I do with the ones that speak English (nothing against other nationalities) because it's easier for them to understand me. It's all grains except rice and corn and you have to know whether there is vinegar or malt in things too. Such a pain. There are sometimes that I will make the effort and other times I just cook for myself because it's so much easier.

Patricia - invite me to lunch and you will see what a pain it is. Go on, I dare you!!!!!!!!

Patricia
20-05-2006, 03:44 PM
Hahhaha ...Bev you would be the daring one if you were game enough to eat my cooking ...LMAO

Beverley
20-05-2006, 03:50 PM
Go on! I'm game if you are. What would you prepare. Just play this little game with me for a while and see if you feed me gluten. Come on, it could be fun.

Forgot to mention, the utensils have to be used for me and me alone so that there is no contamination, if you use butter/margarine I have to have a container of my own. Same goes will jams, honey etc.

Are you game now??

Patricia
20-05-2006, 04:05 PM
Of course I would be game and I would be meticulous in my preparation as I know how horrible it is to be ill. I would make sure that I knew exactly what you were and were not able to eat and if I had any doubt I just wouldnt serve it. I think I would probably keep it simple and opt for very fresh produce and serve it simply thus allowing less room for error.

there certainly is a lot to understand that you never hear about, I certainly feel your frustrations Beverly. And to think I complain about having a fussy eater, that is just pathetic of me. geez it is a lot harder for you than i realised, sorry Bev

Beverley
20-05-2006, 04:20 PM
Patricia - that is really, really nice of you. Thanks.

Yomamma - I've had a few years to get used to it now, but sometimes it's a pain in the butt. Lucky I'm not a foodaholic I guess. Could take it or leave it. I've always been like that thank goodness. I do miss the Asian foods though. I make some recipes myself, but you get very tired of reading every bottle of sauce or sachet for flavourings to find out that you can't use any of them. To make it worse, I'm ultra sensitive too. Just my luck! Can't get away with anything. Don't feel sorry for me please, there are heaps of other people out there that are way worse of than me. At least this (I hope) won't kill me.
Did you know that even to buy chips (hot ones) that they come out of a packet and have wheat on them???? Can you believe that! I didn't know until about a year ago. I thought, chips are chips. Nup. Then again I can't eat them if they've been fried in the same oil as battered/crumbed fish either. I thought fried rice would be safe, no, soy sauce, no, asian sauces, no, lollies, no, most ice creams, no, Soy Milk - now that one was a shock. Most of them have Malt in them. You would think if you're drinking milk, it would just be milk but no, there's Malt in most of them. It's truly amazing what has wheat in it when you start looking.
I'd never heard of Celiac's Disease until I was diagnosed with it either, so it was quite an education.
Enough of that though. I can still eat.

I don't mind Chinese every now and then. My fav would probably be Subway, and then the pizza from the shop over the road. I really hated pizza before, the gross stuff you get from pizza hut etc :eww:
OMG these are HEAVEN, not greasey at all. They cover the outside crust with sesame seeds Mmmmmmmm

Patricia

Yeah we have a gourmet pizzaria round the corner, that's really yum. But pizza is not my favourite take away (and would never eat from chain places now that I've had this pizza)

We don't really eat take away. The boys might get it every now & then as a treat but I cook most nights. If I was to get take away, I would probably get a Subway salad.

I'm not a fan of Chinese food, pizza, kfc or maccas. I do like HJ's, Mexican. and Red Rooster. I love those chicken rolls from RR.

UGH I can't stand chain store pizzas, Dominos and Pizza Hut. The last pizza I had was a year ago. They put on so much barbecue sauce and the toppings just fall off. :eww:

But I do eat homemade pizzas...better for you.

I also like some Japanese Food but NOT sushi.
