While in hospital today one of the Sisters was asking what blood group we were or if we even knew what group we were i said yes i know i am AB- she said "omg so am i do you know we have rare group" i said well yes i know it's not overly common, & i only ever remembered because my Dr told me to tattoo it on my butt when i was young especially for having children & the injection i must have straight after birth of my kids.
so girls i was just wondering if you all knew what you were

Mad Old Cow
05-08-2009, 09:54 PM
yes Nicole but you have to ask the Dr to put it on your pathology note that she wants to know what it is or they would'nt just check for it

I am A+.
I used to be O-.
And before you say blood type can't change, it can and it did.
All of it's documented with the Red Cross as they discovered the change via blood giving.
Three family members are the same.
So bugger tattooing it on my arse!

Gosh i have no idea.
I think I am 0 positive, it rings a bell somewhere in the hollowness of my head. LOL
What is blood type anyway?
How come we humans are not all the same? Obviously blood is not blood.
Is one type better than another for the body?
Does it depend on race?
What determines blood type?
Hmmm, I never thought of these things. I might have do a google search.

Actually, when first discovered it was distressing.
A nurse made the comment, "Well your mother must have jumped the fence..." implying that she'd screwed around and that I was not related to my father or siblings.
I was really infuriated and confused by this, as was my mother who proceeded to visit the centre and tear strips off her. My parents are devoted to each other and the accusation really upset them. As a result, perhaps unfortunately, they no longer donate blood as a result.
The doctor said that while it was possible to change from negative to positive, he added, "It is not possible for an entire blood type change to happen...a mistake must have been made.."
So they went through school records, baby records, birth records, took more tests, dental records etc....
O kept coming up in the records.
A kept coming back.
The human body is an amazing vessel and in medicine, doctors and nurses can't afford to have closed minds.
