Bruises to help them heal?

I played volleyball yesterday and today my left wrist is sore to the touch and my arm is discolored in patches from wrist to elbow from hitting the ball. It's a lovely shade of plum but ideally I would like it to go down so I can wear a watch again (too sore when I tried it this morning)

Are there any creams or lotions that are good for healing bruising? I tried my trusty Vitamin E cream but it doesn't seem to have done much.

Suggestions?

Comfrey ointment is the winner there hon

Here is one site with it but there are many others or I think you can get it at the chemist though I haven't bought it from there!

It is the best and actually works!

I use Voltaren emulgel for the pain, don't think it expedites the bruising process though. I'm assuming of course that you iced it to begin with to help reduce the swelling. :)

Yes... Hirudoid Cream is really good or even Arnica (a natural product).
I swear by both.

Hirudoid is what the blood bank gives out to clear up the bruise when they make a mess of someone. It works fine.

Yes, Arnica is good. Sometimes an ice bag helps too.

Ta muchly to everyone who answered... I popped out to the chemist and got some Hirudoid which I've been putting on for the past few days and I'm pleased to report that the bruising had faded to pale greenish yellow and by next week it should be gone!

Ice would have cleared it up much quicker ;)

that's what i would have thought?
it still seems like it took days for it to fully disappear, but then again it takes the same amount of time for my bruises to disappear and i only ice the area. :dk:

Miss Kiki, hirudoid applied on a bruise can delay healing if the site is still bleeding as the application increases blood flow - which is not what you want at this point. That's why ice is applied (not directly, but via a pack) periodically for the first 24/48 hours so that the vessels can be constricted and the colours (which indicate the spread) can be monitored. Only after the bleeding has ceased is hirudoid applied.

After all, it's all fun and games until someone gets a clot.

I know hirudoid is good, but I have also heard vaseline is good too. Apparently boxers use it.
