View Full Version : Rose Wine or Dry White

Can anyone suggest a nice rose wine or dry white wine that doesn't taste like vinegar.

I am more a red drinker but would like to try a rose or white? I don't like sweet wines but I don't like the acid wines either.

I have been told to try rose wine (which I am assuming is pink) but wouldn't really know what to buy.

Any suggestions?

What kind of food are you having it with Barbar?

Barbara

Food - who said anything about food :Hehe:

Nah, just nibbles at my party on Friday so a bit of savoury & a bit of sweet.

I just want something nice :)

Hmm well Im not too sure as I thought you meant with a meal ....like I would have said a nice rose with beef but something white with fish or chicken.

I am not really into wine but growing up in pubs you get to see what is popular. I don't think you can go wrong with any Australian wine...our wines are very popular overseas now...MIL [-]drinks it by the gallon.[/-].....really loves Australian wine and says they are very good value for money ...go Aussie is what I say Barbar :P

Can I suggest a NZ sav blanc? We've tried a few different brands and they've all been pretty good.

I like reislings, they are sweet.. for dry I drink Pinot Grigio.

I do have my share of Aussie wines too, like yellow tail and some shiraz'

We have lots of Aussie wines here..

not a wine drinker myself but the Matues(sp)rose is not bad, it is from overseas and comes in a green flat round shaped bottle if you know what i mean, it is short not a tall bottle

There is a really nice white in a cask wine, it is very inexpensive but don't let that turn you off. I am fussy with my wine but I tried this and it is a really lovely cask wine.I have always got one in the fridge. It is "Sunnyvale Dry White" It has a lovely fruit taste, but not sweet. Some places let you have a taste test. A lovely Rose is "Home Hill" a Tassie wine, although not sure if it is avaivable at outlets. I buy it here at their winery.

I love the Browns Brothers Wines

All of them Reds Whites Rose :Hehe:

Barbara

Brown Brothers Dolchetto was my favourite  But when I used to drink it, I'd drink it a bit too fast. I seem to have a problem limiting myself with it :Hehe: So I decided to stop.

I want to try the whites now as I have never been a big fan but surely there will be something out there I like. I hope the man at the liquor shop knows his stuff :Hehe:

Brown brothers Spatalexia (sp?) is my fav, but I have the same problem and drink it a bit fast :Hehe: It is a sweet fruity white yum yum

There is another one I realy like but I can't remember the name !
Its something like Moscat (BB) very yummy and not too sweet.

Barbara are you going for a sparkling or still wine?

What kind of snacks are you having?

Barbara

I'm not fussed Patric - as long as it tastes good.

I'm off to the liquor shop now so wish me luck :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay - well, I forgot my list so I was looking around the shop like an idiot trying to remember all the names. I looked at the casks & the rows and rows of bottles shaking my head. I think I spent about 1/2 an hour in there :Hehe:

I ended up buying a bottle of Lindemans Rose to try. If it's crap, I'll go back tomorrow with my list

Barbar did your sister sell alot of stuff at the party?

Maybe you could hold parties to sell your fabulous craft stuff and soaps?

Barbara
30-05-2006, 07:43 AM
She sold about $500 worth which was pretty good & I got these two tops (the biggest photo in each link in the same colours) valued at $135.90 for only $34.00 which was even better :D

I originally thought about doing parties like that - will need to speak to my girlfriend now as she has joined me in the soap business & see what she thinks.

30-05-2006, 07:49 AM
I really like both of those tops but I think the pinkone is the best. You got such a bargin

Barbara
30-05-2006, 07:51 AM
They are so pretty on. You can't really see it but the Brown one ties up down the bottom - there wasn't really much else that I liked :Hehe:

Telori
30-05-2006, 08:13 AM
Not a bad idea about the party plan soaps and stuff Barbara, have you thought about it?

Barbara
30-05-2006, 09:12 AM
I have Teena as I have been to a few parties like that - the ones where you just buy on the night. Orders can be taken though. The ones I have been to are usually for novelty christmas decorations around Christmas time. I am going to talk to my girlfriend today & see what she thinks

Luv Angel Musik Babee
30-05-2006, 09:21 AM
I think that would be awesome and also if you work an order basis you don't need all the stuff made on that night. Good luck Barbara and those tops look great
