I prefer real chicken, tomato, cheese and mayonaise on white bread. Its so yummy and the cheese and mayo go all gooey but extremely hot. :d:

I don't eat them but my boys love them & have left over meat or ham with tomato & cheese or even just baked beans or spaghetti.

I dont really make toasted sandwiches, open face toast yah.. I toast bread then spread cream cheese and avocado.

I guess popular ones are the BLT bacon lettuce and tomato, scrambled egg sandwich and after thanksgiving turkey sandwiches..

Are you using reg bread or english muffins or something else?

Barbara

Most of my leftovers go into an omelette instead of the bread. I have got pineapple in the fridge so will have that tomorrow sometime. Leftover Chilli Con Carne is great with hot chilli sauce & melted cheese :)

I used to have Braised Steak and Onion (from a can) as a filling years ago. Yummy.

I don't make sandwiches as such anymore. I toast my bread then put on toppings like, ham, cheese and tomato and grill it. To try to eat two pieces of Gluten Free bread together would just be way too much for me. It's very dry. I would need to have a bucket of water beside me to drink with it.

Gina - clear up 'jelly' for everyone please. We know jelly as a dessert that you eat with ice-cream. You know, the type made from gelatine. I can't remember what you call it now.

No you were right peanutbutter and jelly. I just dont like writing it out, I am lazy, I dont even call it its full name, But you said you toast it then press it, then made a yuk face, I am confused.

Oh dear LOL we are all confused LMAO I've never had PB & J. My sandwiches I make are plain bread and I just put them in the press after I've put the filling in.

What's the kind of jelly you have though?

Wait! Wait!.. you dont have peanut butter? It is every childs staple food over here.

For jelly, I use strawberry, or boysenberry.. Not grape. I only like grape bubblegum..

I like apricot on toast though..

Peanut butter is soooo great! hmmmm

I make peanut butter cookies, peanut butter hsakes, put peanut butter on celery, on apple slices..

Sometimes we dip our Hershey's bar in the peanut butter, Or eat it plain out of the jar..

What is really funny is to take a huge spoonful and give it too the dog and watch him it eat.. OMG almost a whole hour of fun.

Ok, but this takes the cake here.. Some women put it on their hoohoo and let the dogs lick it off.. No one I know personally, it is one of those Urban Legend Myth thingys

american jelly is australian jam
australian jelly is american jello

I have been known to indulge in peanut butter and banana on toasted (but not a toasted sandwich :eww:

FOr toasted sandwiches, I use grain bread and the most common filling we have is ham cheese and tomato (but I'm fussy about my ham). We'll have fancier fillings on weekends when DH is home to make them :P

mum used to make us ones with a tin of creamed corn as the filling (yum, yum, yum I love creamed corn) or just the usual old ham, cheese and tomato but with mayo instead of butter.

Left over taco mince makes a good filling as well with acouple of slices of really ripe tomato.

Another two that are really nice are:

Chicken, cheese and asparagus. Toasted with a press thingy or as an open sandwich (toasted fingers I call them). You leave it under the grill until the cheese melts. I'm hungry now.

Chicken (fresh cooked not sliced), some of the stuffing and cheese.

Yummy.

Going to find some food now.
