My friends last night had a Sangria party. They made theirs from scratch using Wine, Brandy, Oranges, Lemon Peels, Kiwi, a little sugar, and Lemon/Lime soda. Needless to say, I am hurting a bit this morning. :) Theirs was good, but not the best ever. Does anyone have a good recipe? I am wanting to try a new one!

Sagria is a spanish drink, kind of like a punch drink with fruit in it but very potent :Hehe:

My SIL makes a pretty good sangria, I don't know her recipe though. Other than that, the best stuff I've had has been in Spanish restaurants.

Haha. Ya'll are great. Promise - Next time I will let ya'll know the party is going on! I can't believe some of you have never tried it. Delicious, but, she is right, potent. Feeling much better today! :) I am going to continue my search for a great recipe. I'll post it when I find it...and try it!

Caroline, I just did a google for it and heaps of different receipes came up

There are a few HERE (http://wine.about.com/od/howwineismade/a/sangriaessentia.htm)

And more HERE (http://allrecipes.com/sangria.asp)

They actually all sound delicious - I might even have to make some myself.

Let us know though, which one you think is like the one you had :)

So, none of those sound like the one I had...the one I had called for Brandy. It appears that others use gin or rum. Rum sounds like it would be delicious. Barbara, one of the websites you send me to had one that called for white wine. I may have to give that one a try. Sounds like it would be deliciously refreshing!

I think the white wine one was the one with brandy.

The one I wrote down to try was:

Bottle of your fav white wine
1 lemon cut into wedges
1 line cut into wedges
1 orange cut into wedges
1 cup strawberries
1/2 cup lemonade
1/2 cup sugar
2 shots apricot, peach or berry brandy
2 cups ginger ale.

It says to squeeze the lemon, lime & orange wedges into the wine & then drop wedges in. Mix everything together (except for the ginger ale) & leave in the fridge overnight. Then prior to serving, pour in the ginger ale.

Sounds nice anyway

Yes! That is the one that sounded delicious! The one at the party was red wine with brandy. But most of the recipes I have found is red wine with gin or rum, which I think would be tastier.

I am going to try the recipe above this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes! :P

I've only ever had it with red wine and rum but that white wine recipe sounds really yum. I am so badly craving tapas right now :d: or that rice dish, what's it called? Oh, I want spanish food ...

The rice dish...could it be Paella? My younger sister had a nanny from the Dominican Republic. She made the MOST delicious Paella I have ever had. I have been thinking about getting in touch with Arcadia to get her recipe. If i get it, I will be sure to post it!
