ARTICLE (http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/boys-highway-joyride-to-see-grandad/2006/06/12/1149964444759.html)

You've got to read this story! I was :O at first but then I read the quote "They appeared to be driving normally ... certainly better than probably some other people on that road,'' said Moree Police Sergeant Matt Clifford.

LMAO

But on the other hand, surely a ten year old would be aware of right and wrong?

That is so funny. Kids learn to drive on properties out there usually. Still, it's not right I will give you that, funny, but not right.

That is funny but I don't condone their actions. That's amazing that they got 80 kms... you'd be really shocked if they got all the way to their grandfather's house. Amazing!

LMAO That reminds me, when I still drove a normal car (not a bus :Hehe: ) I let Summer drive down the drive way...I pointed out the brake and she didnt' really need the accelorator...she got a few cms and panicked and used the accelorator instead of the brake, nearly ran into the tilt'a'door and I had to dive over to put the brake on...we were laughing so much...and I've never let her try again! LMAO LMAO

When it's time we will go to the Woolies car park on Sunday (we dont have sunday trading) and she can practice around there...plus now she has to learn in the bus! LMAO LMAO going to be fun...

lol Teena, I learnt to drive in a paddock at my dad's place, in his horrible ute, it had a turning circle like a sherman tank. He used to line up a couple of 40 gallon drums for me to practice parallel parking in between. I added a few dings to the barrels AND the ute.

LMAO LMAO I bent a clothesline over to the side when I tried driving in my old house's backyard, it was huge by the way but I still managed to get the clothesline

:Hehe: I learnt in a paddock too, in one of those little nissan things that only had two seats and a ute thing out the back. It used to go ningningning...when it drove so we called it a Ning Ning...(I actually dont even know if it is a Nissan LMAO )...it was bumpy as hell and a stupid big stick shift...sticky clutch and phew...it was fun!!!!!!!!

I am glad the boys are safe. And didn't hurt anyone. It is much more serious here.

A kid here about 11 took a car and was joyriding, he would not pull over and was in a police pursuit. Then he rammed in to the police car and the police open fired and killed the boy.
The mom want to sue the police, but she should have known where her son is and he should have stopped instead of running from the law

"If it's registered as your car you've got to know who's driving [it]."

Poor Grandma was leaving the keys were she could find them :Hehe:

Two very lucky boys !!

I learnt to drive the old farm ute (manual) when i was 8, but I was always very tall for my age and could reach the pedals and see at the same time.
But in the paddock there isn't much to hit :Hehe:

Except the gate post. Yep, BTDT  I swear I drive a lot better now, haven't hit anything for ages.

My 13 1/2 year old niece has been learning to drive on my family's property. She is learning to drive in my very first car, she is doing really well.

Then again considering her mum and brother both got their licence their first go I think it runs in the family. I taught her brother how to drive in the same car. her mum was in her 30's before she went for her licence.
