OK, was just reading the apple thread again...and wondered has anyone tried a Nashi ? They used to be called Nashi pear but I think they are just Nashi's now. They are a cross between and apple and a pear and they are delicious.

I remember when they first came out here my ex hubby and I were looking at them and the green grocer asked if we wanted to try one...they were so nice we bought a couple but back then they were a couple of dollars EACH...not sure what they are now, haven't seen them for a while...

I buy them for Hugo and DH when the pears aren't very nice but I don't really like them myself. I bought some a week or two ago, they were about $3/kilo ... same price as the other apples.

I love Nashi's. A lot of people here have them growing, so we always have friends and neighbours passing them off.

Have a look at your local nursery. I didn't know much about them until we moved here, every second person seems to grow them here. Maybe they like a cool climate.

I'm not sure, check with your local nursery. I didn't know much about them until we moved here. We came from Sydney and I don't know if they grew there or not.
