DD and scoliosis !!!!!!

well to tell you the truth ..i fell relived today is day 3 of our journey ..
DD and scoliosis had.. operation on Monday day after mothers after all the observations and the specialist appointments
for the last 3 years final it happened..
she had her operation on Monday afternoon in Melbourne Epworth hospital.. Richmond
I have been by her bed side last 3 days ..
shes doing well.. day 3
and when i saw her today she said well I'm up for visitors toady..a very good singe .
and shes getting better by the moment
its has been a long journey for all off us ..



no need to reply just I thought i might shear that with you !!

MB, how wonderful that all has gone well and you must be relieved after all that it sounds like you have been through to get to this point
Your DD is so lucky to have a great Mum like you and I can see you treasure her very much

My 12 year old niece has scoliosis she wears a brace 23 hours a day:( if that doesnt help she will be getting the op.
How old is your daughter? Make sure you get some rest hey:comfort:

Glad the operation is behind her now Mrs B, do you know how long her hospital stay will be?
I can imagine how you have been worrying it is that much harder when our kids aren't well.
I was going to ask how old she is as well?

I'm hoping it is all behind you and your daughter now Irene...oops, no pun intended. There is nothing worse when your baby is in hospital and you can't kiss it or make it better with a band aid.... irrespective of their age.
Make sure you give yourself some ME time tho'.

Irene, I am pleased the operation was successful, and your DD is recovering well.
My grandaughters stepsister had the same or similar operation, she is standing tall now and says she feels great. She is 13. I hope your daughter does the same. :)

just came home from Hospital and it has been a long few days .
but shes doing relay well . and all her friend are coming in to see her ..
and give support..
DD is 20 years old ..she wanted to be normal by age 21..

Up date on DD..
day 5 ..all Iv are out ..today she had a shower .
walked around the ward and sitting up in the chair ..
still very sore but doing well ..Im so proud of her..:yes:

up date on DD
not long got home from hospital ..
All is well shes sitting up by herself and walking around the ward the physio ..
comes around every morning to get her mobile ..and exercise..
shes eating well ..and she sms me to bring her stuff in like lollies. coffee
even mentioned MC Donalds.. so shes def: geting to her old selfe ..
witch is grate to see. should be home by Wednesday..

OW thank you for asking shell still have to have physio when she comes home ..
so she can learn to bend and do every day activity ..
also i think because she has done Karate for years that she seems to recover quickly ..

I just thought i might up date you lovely ladies on the progress of DD
its been a long 3 months..yep :yes:
finally it was the day she had X rays and a Doc appointment.
all well and shes doing grate guns her posture has improved and she grown over night ..
So she is allowed to drive.. only if comfortable
and resume Work ..light duties..:D
next appointment is in 3 months
So DD was all exited and believe you Me so was I ..:y:

I'm glad she had the operation. I was born with scoliosis and in the 50's you were told it was because "you were lazy and didn't stand up straight". If only I had been able to have the operation, I wouldn't have the terrible back problems I have now.

I do believe that its due to heavy school; bags ..
and awareness i young kids .. scoliosis..something parents dont normally think about ..
But if you think your child or your Grand child is carrying to much on there backs ,due to heavy school bags ask the questions why do they need to carry so much on there backs ..
please take note . approach the schools ..look at there backs ..
dont be ignorant because it wont go away ..it can happen
more now then ever before because of the work load at school ..
But My DD was borne with a extra vertebrate in her spine and a extra rib..
she was truly blessed..
she was going to have a short and painful life But NOW SHE CAN TRULY LOOK TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE..
So please look at there backs ..
if they complain its to heavy MY back hurts ,,
PLEAS TAKE NOTE ..

I know with the kids backpacks, they recommend to wear BOTH of the straps, and not just one over one shouldor.

It's been a long road, and no doubt very worrying for you and painful for your daughter Irene! You and hubby must be so relieved that she has come through the operation and recovery period so very well. A wonderful feeling of freedom for all of you to celebrate now too I would think!! :y:
