I've not heard of them. What do they look like?

Like normal pears but with a tawnier/browner colour to them. The flavour is fuller and probably sweeter but not in a sickly way ... I think they must be a new variety, I hadn't heard of them before either.

Winter Nelis
Available from March to the end of November the Winter Nelis pear is also known as the Quall or Honey Pear. It’s a small to medium sized pear with its sweet flavour meaning it’s useful for cooking or bottling and delicious when eaten fresh.
I found that information on http://apal.org.au/general/AustralianPears.htm I've never seen them under that name either.

I've never heard of them either, when I first saw this thread I thought they were bottled pears cooked with honey or something like that:blush:

Oh, I will have to look for those! I love pears and any fresh fruit. Of course, living in Breck, it can be hard to get the best produce except from farmer's stands.
