Does anyone have one? I have been thinking I might grow a few things, in tubs or pots etc. Just something fun for the kids, not really expecting to feed us LOL
What sort of things are easy to grow, and would grow well in a pot? I would like to grow some strawberries, everyone loves those. Hayden wants me to plant a banana tree, in a pot..some how I can't see that happening LOLOL

Leigh I have had lots of different vegie gardens over the years, it often helps get kids to eat them when they have helped too.
Cherry tomatoes are great to grow in a pot and if you don't use chemicals on them the kids can eat them straight off the bush, my kids have loved doing this.
snow peas are another good one to grow if you have a bit of space next to a fence or make a little trellis for them. They grow pretty quickly and they are another one my kids used to just pick off the plant while outside playing and eat them raw.
Strawberries are pretty easy to grow you just have to keep the birds away- they love them too :P
I have an old bath in my backyard which I used to fill with all my compost then let whatever comes up grow in it - we have had tomatoes pumpkin and rockmelon mostly come up in it . It currently has some herbs in it.

LOL I used to have a black thumb too but with lots of perserverance and advice from family it finally happened. We have grown lots of different fruits and vegies in our garden. We have a mandarin tree and passionfruit growing at the moment but I would like to get back into it again, just got to find the time for it LMAO
I have lots of herbs, a chilli bush and tomotes growing in several terracotta pots. I've placed the pots so they are easily seen from the kitchen window, so I'm reminded to water then when they look all droopy LOL

I'm with you Melissa LOL. I've killed cacti LMAO
We don't have indoor plants, because the cats eat them  . Hayden bought me a flower pot with some fake flowers in it from the mother's day stall, they have eaten those too :O
I bought a big terracotta pot about 2yrs ago to plant some things in, it's still sitting there empty LOLOL
When is the time to plant strawberries?

At the moment I have some parsley and basil growing in a hanging pot, but I do want to start a little vege patch. I'll probably just put in some more basil (love making homemade pesto) and some chilli bushes and some other types of herbs, like garlic chives or something like that. I have grown cherry tomatoes and snow peas in the past and they grow pretty quickly and I love being able to use things in cooking.

Leigh I would imagine that Autumn to Winter would be the time to do strawberries, they enjoy the cold don't they?.... Your cats sound like my cat - eat anything and everything in the house...LOL
Can u make a vegie patch if you live in a rental and have a garden? We really don't have a garden, only a backyard with a section that looked like someone tried to grow something but failed miserably. I would like to grow something too. My potplants especially my climbers are looking really sad at the moment and I don't know why!!!! ;(
