A friend told me on Friday that her daughter had to go to the Dr for her severe migraine & the Dr gave her this list & so i asked for a copy because my hubby gets then & i know a lot of you girls do as well . For my hubby it is bright light but here is the list that may be helpful to you girls

*Humid hot weather
*Fatigue & loss of sleep
*Stress
*Hunger after missing a meal (hypoglycaemia)
*Menstruation
*Bright light, glare
*Medication

FOODS
Ripened cheeses (cheddar, Emmentaler,Brie, Camambert
Red wine
Fried & Fatty foods
Herring
Chocolate
Vinegar ( except white)
Anything fermented, pickled or marinated
Sour cream, yoghurt
Nuts, peanut butter
Hot fresh breads, doughnuts
Any foods containing MSG (chinese foods)
Tomatoes & onions
Canned figs
Citrus fruits
Pizza
Pork
Tea, Coffee, Cola
Avocado
Fermented sausages (salami, peperoni, hot dogs,)
Chicken livers

Food Permissible
Cheeses= American, Cottage, Cream, Velveeta

I know this seems like a lot of things but maybe just keep in mind next time you get a headache & think if you have had any of these things & keep track of it

Thanks for the info. I get aura migraines, the doc said they could also be bought on by smells. I had one once after being in a freshly painted room.

Yes Debs, i know that paint smell has caused migraine with my sister

i guess if people were to keep a food diary they might find their trigger...
it must be hell to suffer from migraines..

I don't like to stick things on my fridge..ok
But with my very good memory for an old duck, I will put it to the back of my mind.:D

My trigger used to be M.S.G. got the headaches and nausea.. before I had my hysterectemy was hormonal with the migraines haven't had one for quite a while thank god.
Never was much of a drinker but when I used have drink got ill a few times so twenty years ago I just stopped drinking completely don't even miss it.

Stress, pure and simple are my triggers.....thank heavens because there is no way I could eat American cheese or Velveeta.

OMG! do they still make Velveeta?
There are a few things I have noticed that you can't buy in Qld.
You know, I have a packet of Kinkara tea here, which is out of date now but I don't want to throw it away.LMAO
Oh I think tea is good for migraine, isn't it.

Save the packet Cherie and give it to the Aged Care Facility your Mother hopes to go into....they can add it to their Reminisce Box if they have one.

I read an article in a mag on the weekend that they reckon coffee will ease a migraine.
