I've used it straight from the plant you have to use the sap from the fleshy part on the bottom of the leaf..an elderly neighbour of mine has bad scarring on her chest from a burn swears by it she has one growing.

When I burnt my hand and arm on the BBQ, I got a very bad burn, the first thing I did was grab the aloe vera from the garden and applied it. I did it every day a couple of times a day or whenever needed until it healed..Yes the burn was damn painful too.
Now you may get differing views on this. You can see a scar on my wrist, but I believe it could have been much worse without the AV.
Of course if you use the Aloe Vera from the yard, nobody makes any money..:D
Any so called fibre's didnt worry me.
I have lots of AV plants in my yard.

I have found that if you get one leaf in the morning..then every time you want to apply it, you just cut and discard a little bit off the end part and then use it. It will stay fresh. There is no need to keep pulling leaves off all day.

Oh ..Forgot to mention..The part of the plant to use is the skin..
You cut a piece of Aloe and peel the skin off it, then put that piece of skin against your burn, Jelly side of course.
There is more than one type of Aloe Vera though, you have to pick the right one.

You can also squeeze the gel out from the base of the leaf.

I got my flu needle the other day and my arm started to get itchy I rubbed some of my aloe vera plant on it and it settled :)

Spot on ! Its the kind of "warning" where the only actual grounds are profit making. People have been using aloe vera on open wounds for 4 thousand years - there are descriptions in literature of the Romans bring the plants back from Africa !
To make mine last ages I cut off the spikes with scissors, then slide a steak knife down through the flesh to spilt it open like a book. Then I shave a sliver off and put it on the burn - close the leaf, wrap in glad wrap and pop in the fridge, the sliver dries onto the skin and you can go to bed without concern for your sheets etc. Repeat daily. Woman in my team at work poured a full kettle of water down her thigh the other week (not intentionally!) - bad burns across the whole thigh. I gave her two leaves and she has been using them daily ever since. She is healing brilliantly.

Kjoy, you got it in one. That is exactly what I was trying to say. That is how we do it. It works so well and I do not have a scar where I well could have.
Thank you for the correct analysis.
