crap! just over 5 yrs ago I almost lost my hubby to a bee sting, he had been stung previously & it never worried him but then this one almost took his life. The doc did some tests & he was diagnosed as highly allergic to bees & they started him on a 5yr desensatisation program started out getting needles weekly, then f/nitely & then monthly for the last 3 yrs.
He had his last needle about 6wks ago & last week had a blood test to check his allergy.................well it didnt work he is still highly allergic. The reading should have been 20 but his was over 300 :O He sees the Doc on Fri for more info :(

My brother had an extreme allergy to beestings (didnt have this de-sensatisation program though, maybe it was'nt available 30 years ago) he was hospitalised after a bee sting and after that he had to carry an Epi pen to give himself emergency injection of anti histamine if it ever happend again - fortunately never did.
The same thing as people with extreme allergies to peanuts have for emergencies.

 Bob carries an epipen with him. Told him not to piss me off or I will invest in bee hives :hehe:

I'm allergic too.....discovered this over 50 years ago and my parents were just told to keep me away from bees

These days I stand very still and the little dears just buzz past me.

Let us know what happens now with DH....certainly is a worry.

The little buggers can sense fear.
My DD ex is highly allergic to them, but would be too cheapskate to go have treatment.:D

well that's a bummer. hope the doc has something else he can do

I am allergic too but not as bad , I think , have to carry an antihistamine around with me , last time I was bitten was on the back of my head and one half of my face and neck swelled up so bad , was scary so I know how poor DH must feel, keep us updated

My DD ex is highly allergic to them, but would be too cheapskate to go have treatment.:D The treatment wasnt hugely expensive, had to get a script for the venom every so often but the doc didnt charge to do the injection. More it was an inconvienience as DH had to take 1/2 days off work to get it done

Woah! Definitely a waste of time. I hope there's still a way to get his health back to normal again. Just be careful next time. :)

That's a pita. Does he have to carry anything to alert people?

Naomi

Yes that's an idea ... would he wear a medic alert bracelet or something? I'm sure you can get manly ones ...

Supa

Yes, you can get Medi-Alerts as necklaces as well as bracelets.

Geez, such a waste of time - but understandable in attempt.
Is there anything else that they can try?

He could always get the medi-alert bracelet tattooed on to ensure jewelry isn't a danger.
