Hi girls,
I am 17 weeks pregnant and have just started having cravings for olives and pickled asparagus! Was just wondering what weird and wonderful cravings others have had? and whether anyone knows if they have any significance to the baby's sex!
Fliss
P.S. I shouldn't have mentioned olives and asparagus - now i gotta get some more! lol :d: LMAO

lol I don't think I had any real cravings per se, other than Oporto portugese chicken burgers (can't even smell them now without feeling :eww:) I can't remember if savory cravings is supposed to indicate a boy or a girl. I had a boy FWIW :hehe:

I craved Hungry Jacks, and at that stage i absolutely hated the stuff LOL!!.
I don't think cravings have any relationship to a babys sex tho.

My sister loves vegemite and cheese sandwiches...funny as she hates vegemite...she has it on toast, for lunch, on vita wheat, she loves the stuff at the moment...oh and she knows she is having a boy. She has also gone off tea (which is really strange) as she and I are big tea drinkers and it feels funny when we catch up and she doesn't want one...hope that doesn't last till after the bub comes...:>:

When I was having slight morning sickness from weeks 6-9 I craved fresh fruit, mainly cuz it was one of the things I could handle. Apart from that I haven't had any major cravings cept for my usual need for chocolate.

At the start of my pregnancies I wanted fruit...especially pears or apples but by the end it was chocolate, which is strange 'cause when I'm not pregnant or breast feeding I dont care if I eat chocolate or not.

With my first pregnancy I remember waking up one night and craving fried eggs - nothing else, just a plate of fried eggs. I also craved mushrooms (which up until then I couldn't stand the sight of).
My second pregnancy I craved anything spearmint and also HAD to have devilled ham spread & lettuce sandwiches :eww:
Savoury cravings are supposed to indicate a boy & sweet cravings a girl but how accurate it is:dk: With DD I didnt really crave anything but would have salada biscuits with vegemite EVERY night in bed when DH got home from work (midnightish) & with DS I craved 2min noodles & sausage rolls

It's called pica or something like that. It's not uncommon in pregnancy ... not necessarily coal but other things like dirt or chalk.

:) An update on my cravings!! The other night I would've killed for a Chicken Burger from Macca's! I sent hubby a message to get me one on way home - he was so pleased with himself when he walked in with a Chicken Caesar Salad from Macca's instead. He figured it was more healthy for me and bubs! He couldn't understand why I got all upset and stormed out to get my own Chicken Burger! :head: Very funny now but at the time I was soooooo mad!! I think he has learnt his lesson now tho and will get me what ever I ask for. He even had the hide to say "But the salad was heaps more expensive than the Burger!!"LMAO

With clancy i just ate and ate and ate hubby was baking at the time and i tell you hot italian bread with loads of butter and vegimite at midnight or 2 in the morn was just :d: with the girls I was never hungry and couldn't stomach anything except pasta and icecream and pizza. With clancy i did have this craving soooooooooooooo bad for Royal gala apples but it was the wrong season. I nearly went out of my mind nothing would appease the need. I couldn't drink cold water with any of them(had to be room temp) anf the thought of mangoes :eww: :eww: :eww:
