Erin: How does Bully get on with your gorgeous burms? My OH really wants a staffy and I wonder how he/she would get on with our almost one year old kitty...

Love the pics, all your pets are so sweet ;) :)

I have two cats;

Nikolai (Nik) is a 2.5 yr old russian blue and Barnabas (Barney) is a 2 yr old lilac burmese. They are great friends and have been since the beginning.

There are pictures at their blog, www.barnikle.com (but be warned, it's been taken over by Hugo, the human baby, a bit of late).

OMG!!! All your furries are BEAUTIFUL!!!!

It's amazing how all the Burmese and Siamese look sooo elegant and regal!!! The Blue's (to me) always look like they're thinking about getting into some sort of mischief :)

Leigh, Sasha is gorgeous with her long hair... how does she go with your Meezer's? Also is it noisy with 4 Meezers???

Erin, I love the photo's of Bully and Kyra (I think)... talk about very good hearted about her sticking her head in his bowl :)

Naomi, I love you're blog... I had a quick sticky and your furries are gorgeous and so is Hugo (he's just devine!).

All your pets are just gorgeous.

I have three cats, but I haven't got very many photos of them, so I will endeavour to get some nice ones in the next few days and post them on here.

This is one taken a couple of years ago of Oscar, my ginger tom. He had a very odd spot to sleep in my old house...lol

Leigh

Colby, Yes, the meezers are quite noisy at times. They swear a lot too :Hehe:

Cat's sleep in the stupidest places LOL..Oscar doesn't look overly comfy there. Is that his true colour? What a lovely ginger boy he is :) Look forward to seeing the other furries.

Jewly
01-06-2005, 12:19 PM
No, that's not his true colour...it's just the photo making him look so dark. He does have a gorgeous coat though and he has lovely stripes all over his tummy.

This is more what he's like.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/julzach70/Oscar001.jpg

He can be a grumpy old boy at times, and always looks as if he's got a scowl on his face but he can still be quite smoochy at times, especially in the colder months.

Leigh
01-06-2005, 12:29 PM
He reminds me of my Mum's cat. He always has shitty look on his face LOL

These are my Mum's cats.( sorry they are abit big, I'm lazy  )
This is Megs
http://www.staceys-planet.com/photos/megs.jpg

This is Fluffy(very original name LOL) She is a sweet little girl, tho deaf as a post.
http://www.staceys-planet.com/photos/fluffy.jpg

And this is Cherri, she was a cat of a lady at the nursing home where mum worked. She owner passed away, and her children wanted to have her PTS because she is so old. She is 14yrs old, and doing very well, tho she can be a bit of a Miss at times LOL

Jewly
01-06-2005, 12:41 PM
Megs looks just like Oscar. People often stop to call him over for a pat and he will just glare at them and walk away..lol

Elly on the other hand, my little ginger female, happily jumps up on everyone and starts smooching with them the minute they get in the door. She's a bugger for jumping into people's cars and boots when they have them open and I bet one day she will get driven away. Just hope they bring her back!!

Ebony...my little black female, is a funny girl. She has become more friendly, but is very skittish and doesn't like strangers. She also doesn't like to be patted all that much and often will go for anyone who pats along her back. I've even had her checked out at the vet and they can't find a reason for it, but maybe she was mistreated as a kitten before we got her.

I'll get some pics of the two girls when they wander back in later.

You mum has some lovely cats and that was nice of her to take in Cherri.

I'm with you Monty!!! I'll take them all home, thank you :) They are soooo gorgeous :)

Jewly, I had to laugh at your photo of Ebony, it does look like she's poking her tongue out at you as well as Oscar's sleeping spot :) Elly is beautiful!!!

I was told a long time ago that ginger girls are very rare, in most cases ginger cats are males. So if it's correct, Elly is very special indeed.

Leigh, how lovely of your mum to save Cherri, she's obviously a cat lover having 2 of her own and especially one that is sooo fluffy.

Colby...

I heard the same thing, and to be honest, I have never seen another ginger female. Elly is a very special little cat and everyone just adores her but she is a bossy little thing and definately wears the pants around here.

Pam....

Your daughter's cats are just gorgeous!!

Naomi

Leigh, is Cherry a burmese? I'm sure I've mentioned it before - next on my feline wish list is a chocolate or brown burmese (it will be "hugo's cat" lol).

Pam, Kolby and Kyra are adorable! Are they littermates?

I want to post some pictures of Nik and Barney but our site is down :( I'll try later.

I have just aquired a new pet. She is an abandoned little furry, whom I have named "Amber" for the colour of her eyes. For the past few weeks I have been feeding her at the old house where her previous owners left her, but today we brought her to our house. I am hoping and praying she will settle down here, and grow to accept us. She is terribly shy and timid, but having lost almost one of her ears, I dread to think what she has been through!!

Right now, she is in the outside sleep-out with a bowl of food and water in with her, poor little mite scoffs food so quickly, it is really sad to see. ;(

The last owners moved out of that house about 3 months ago, so she must have been fending for herself at least that long. She doesn't look to be very old, so must have been quite tiny when they left her. :( Breaks my heart to see pets abandoned like that.

Anyway, please keep your fingers crossed that little Amber adapts to life with her new family, and as soon as possible, I will get some photos of her.

Tora :-) (Anne)

Jewly, I've only ever heard of one other female ginger... a close friend had one but she went missing when she was still a kitten. I said I wouldn't be surprised if someone picked her up and took her because she was very friendly and lovable.

I had a good laugh at the fact that Elly wears the pants in your house... my torti (Missy) is definitely the boss and would not have it any other way :)

Colby

Anne, that is sooo good of you to adopt little Amber. I would imagine she's very frightened and nervous because she's so little and had to defend for herself.

It gets me soooo angry when people abandon pets... if they cannot keep their pet they should at least take some responsibility of finding a home for them!!! grrrrr at your old neighbours!!!

I have no doubt that once Amber realises that you're not going to hurt her and that she's on a good thing, she'll be really lovable. If you can, I would take her off to the vet for a general check up. They should be able to give you an estimated age as well and tell you if she's been desexed.

Big hugs to your new little girl :)

Pam

Hi Anne :waves:

I hope some bad Karma comes along to those low-lifes! God, that makes me so angry! How do they sleep at night? Poor little mite, and it must be getting so cold in NZ. No wonder she is timid and unsure :( I hope she settles in with you quickly and is soon purring loudly in your nice warm lap!

Don't forget to pop back and share some photo's of Amber ;) Love her name btw.

I took some pics of Amber this morning. She lets me pet her, but only for seconds at a time. She really is terribly scared. You can tell she is just aching to be loved, but not game to trust anyone just yet.

Naomi, Yes Cherri is a brown burm. She is a very petite little thing, but looks great for her ages. She is starting to get cold tho, poor little thing needs a jumper.

How wonderful you have found yourself a new furry friend Anne, good on you. She looks like a real character :)

Hey Anne, Amber is gorgeous :) That was like my boy Pirate... he was a mistreated stray, that was really wanting some love but didn't know if he could trust me. After lots of coaxing with food and lots of patience he is now the biggest sook and loves his pats and cuddles.

Keep showing her love and tenderness and she will definitely show it back to you once she knows she can trust you :)

Amber is settling down lovely thanks Monty. :) She follows my Son Robert around when he is outside. She is still very nervous, and bolts at the slightest noise, but doesn't run far, and looks back to see if all is clear before she returns. She is getting a lovely soft coat on her now, and looks so healthy!!

Hi everyone. I have four felines - Max and Sparky are 12 year old "brothers". They are tabby moggies. Max is quite active despite his age but Sparky has hyperthyroidism, is on medication and is becoming a grumpy old man. Tigger is a 9 year old ginger mog who tolerates the rest of the feline family but lets them all know that he is the boss. Sara is my only little girl. She is a beautiful 7 year old ragdoll tabby mix (mum was a pure raggie but dad was an opportunistic tabby tom, rumour has it he could even have been feral). Sara is my challenge. She has been diabetic for 2 1/2 years and after many dietary and insulin changes, we have finally hit the right combination to keep her on the straight and narrow.

I'd love to post pics of my furry family but I am not that crash hot at computer stuff, would need some guidance.... :help:

Hi Glenys,

You will need to upload your photo's, a lot people use Photo Bucket (http://photobucket.com/) it's free. Once you have uploaded the photos, (easy instructions) you can then post them here, just click the little yellow envelope you can see, and insert the address of the photo. (ie: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/glenyscat.jpg)

Yell out if you still have any questions :)

BUT I do have a dog. his name is Scooter and he is a poodle x schitzu. he is about 13 years old and i got him from my ex's new wife 3-4 years ago now - also a long story!! But, he is with me now and will be until he passes on.

Ladybird, your pets are sooo cute :) I'm hearing more and more about how birds can be wonderful pets :) but with 2 cats that would be too dangerous for them :)

Glenys, your cats are gorgeous!! Sara is sooo pretty with her white mane and Tigger, Max and Sparky are so handsome (they look like real boys too) :)

Shelley, I know how you feel about 'giving up the cat thing' as I went through a bad patch with 2 cats being really sick and dying on me (long story with both but I think it was the breeding, as they had both come from the same breeder and she was denying any problems with her cats)... another story another time :)

Scooter sounds like an interesting pooch (half poodle, half shitzu) - does he have long curly hair? Growing up we had a cross shitzu and he use to copy the cats coming in and out the window from the back yard into the house and one day he got sick of being out side so followed them in through the window. That was it, he came in and out the house through the back window (lol). My parents put a chair inside and outside for him because he was leaving marks on the walls from pulling himself up onto the window :)

I'm not sure how to post pictures but Pam wrote the instructions out for Glenys so have a look above at the older posts :) Good luck

Hi Everyone, I wanted to talk about our Family Dog 'Duke'. He's a German Shepherd and is 15 years old. He loves playing soccer with us and he especially loves kids. Although age has slowed him down alot, he still tries to play soccer with us. He makes us all happy, and if only he could talk, I'm sure he'd say that we make him happy too.
When I get my scanner going - I'll put up a pic.

Your dogs are just gorgeous Barbara - I'm a bit bias tho ;) I've just bought a Coat King and thinnned out Harry's coat, and it really help cut down the hair shedding. I cut 2 bags full of his undercoat! I took the scissors to his pajamma pants too :Hehe: Does Nudge like the dogs? I bet the dogs would love him - they love everyone don't they LOL

Barbara
12-09-2005, 01:11 PM
Pam, I really need to get a decent brush for Spencer & Murphy - the amount of hair they shed is incredible. I'll keep an eye out for the coat king. Was it expensive? They love getting brushed though and usually jump over each other to get it. Spencer (Mufasa is his nickname because he just fromps around & is always so relaxed & placid) is great to brush and could sit there for ages. Murphy (the Goat as my husband calls him - I won't explain why :Hehe: ) is an absolute nightmare and can't sit still. We think he stole all the energy from Spencer & has enough energy now for two dogs. They are beautiful though and love a cuddle/pat. Nudge hates them and will run & hide. He isn't too bad with Spencer because Spencer can't really be bothered but Murphy loves chasing him and barking at him and racing around like it's the first time he has ever seen him. Very amusing.

Hi Barbara,

I paid $70 for mine - my doggy washer ordered it for me, after she recomended it to me as she has 2 goldens herself :)

You only need to use it once to every 3 weeks. Use it on a nice clean coat to keep the blades from becoming blunt. Mines an 18 blade one.

I just quickly got this link from the 1st site I came across just so you can see what it is.

I'm a bit remiss and have not introduced my three ferals. I got them as 5-6 week old kittens when their mother left them with me and I have had them since. I call them my million dollar cats as I seem to have spent much of this year at the vets with one or two of them. But I wouldn't have it anyother way.
