Off to see this tonight...

It stars Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock

Tagline: How do you hold on to someone you've never met? (more)

Plot Outline: A lonely doctor (Bullock) who once occupied an unusual lakeside home begins exchanging love letters with its newest resident, a frustrated architect (Reeves). They must try to unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary romance before it's too late. (view trailer)

User Comments: Even though this is clearly impossible, it's amazing

Speaking of mood, I thought this was another strongpoint of the movie. The cinematography is great, creating a cold, atmospheric setting. Chicago's impressive architecture is used to great effect. If you like stunning visuals to set your romantic mood then you won't be disappointed.

As long as you're willing to give this film your undivided attention for approximately 100 minutes (and you can easily forgive its shortcomings) then The Lake House will prove to be an intriguing piece of film for lovers of the romance genre.

And hey, even if romances aren't your thing, there might just be enough mystery here to keep your interest. After the movie, my friend commented, "As far as romances go, this is probably the best I've seen." And he hated The Notebook, ladies.

This is a snipet of what I have read about it...I was going to see it in America...but I never had a hotel near a movie theatre!!!

Is this movie taken from the book called the lake house by James Patterson?

We have a book called the lake house by James Paterson but I haven't read it, my husband has though but I am not sure if its the same as this new movie.

I just checked the book and the characters names are different from those in the movie so I am guessing it has nothing to do with each other.

Right going to be honest...

Not as good as "The Notebook" or even "Message in a Bottle"

Too drawn out and way too long winded...also Sandra does not do it in the "romantic department", Keanu is good but really the whole story is just too unbelievable...

Nice to watch on DVD on a sunday afternoon with a cup of tea and a packet of tim tams, but don't waste your money and see it at the movies...

There a heaps better romance movies out there...even Sleepless in Seatle was better and Tom Hanks is not the most romantic guy either!!!

Saw Jindabyne as well and that was brilliant...and seeing 10 Canoes tonight...

Awe Alexa! I loved the lake house!!! So did Chris, which surprised me.

I still dont understand the 2 year difference.. but OMG.. I was crying towards the end. I thought it was GREAT! I think Keanu and Sandra really compliment eachother in the films they do. I think they should hook up IRL.

I will buy the DVD when in comes out.

I like Sandra Bullock.
It's easier for me to buy the DVD than go to the show.

Yeah Gina I do agree, they look great together but they have nothing in this compared to Speed, she seems pretty happy with her hubby Jesse James...who is Keanu hooked up with, now he is nice, very nice...if you know what I mean...yeah the ending was good but a bit predicable?

Yeah I saw the Breakup, up Jennifer Anniston is just annoying, she should stick to TV, there are plenty of better "actresses" around...she just doesn't have any substance for me?

On SBS a while back I saw the Korean or Japanese version of this movie - ooohh must be at least a yr or so back - I cried in that one - let alone any other version of it LOL ... but I'll be waiting for it to come out on DVD as well.
