Have any of you made your own homebrew...beer, wine, spirits, apple cider or ginger beer?
We gave Adam a kit for his birthday recently as he is English and doesn't like the beer over here (he only drinks rarely but I thought it might be a good hobby for him) he is busy bottling his very first batch of Dark Ale and if you ask me it doesnt look very appealing but then again I am no beer expert.
Think I might get a kit to make some cider and ginger beer though, I love both of those.:)

My Dad used to make it, it's the devil's own drink (and I don't mean morally!) :eww: It would be a sad day if I was reduced to drinking home brew. (Or maybe my Dad just wasn't good at it :hehe:)

My dad used to make his own beer when I was little, I dont really remember how he done it but I remember he used to put em in bottles and such :)
Oh and I know someone that does homebrew spirts, rum, bourbon and scotch. Bourbon and scotch are pretty alright, but rum well its just not the same as real rum, there's no homebrew rum I've tasted that I liked :hehe:

I used to brew my own beer...I brewed Coopers Ale and it was great. I've also brewed apple cider (alcoholic) and it is really nice but you have to let it sit for about three months after it is bottled to taste really nice. I've also done scotch and dry...same the longer you leave it the better it tastes...but beware it will knock your socks off the longer it sits!
Hmmm what else...I have done wine from a kit and it was alright, prefer to buy it though...never bothered with ginger beer 'cause I dont drink it.
The ex hubby and I use to brew our beer as lites...all goes on the amount of sugar. And tank water makes the beer better...it is softer and tastes better...if Adam doesn't drink much he might look into cutting back the sugar he puts in the brewer or he'll only need a bottle to be under the table! LMAO LMAO

When my brother shared a house with his uni mates, and they were all very poor:hehe: they only ever drank home brew (couldn't afford anything else lol). I think my brother still makes it every now and again.
I can't stand beer so I would never make it, but I make my own Baileys sometimes:D

I haven't made it for ages, I'd have to hunt it down, I got it from a tupperware party years ago but the ingredients are- Scotch, condensed milk, chocolate topping and coffee- I think thats all (off the top of my head)
I also have a friend of a friend who makes great spirits and he makes the best butterscotch schnapps:clap: which goes very nicely with the baileys:D

I have never made my own beer but my friend got some kit and tried making them in college. Made a blueberry beer or soemthing. It was alright, but it seemed like a lot of trouble to go through for a cold beer! :)
Does it not take a lot of effort?
