WDYT - to cake or not to cake?

So .... I still have that packet cake in my cupboard. And a free afternoon with Hugo .... should we make the cake and blow the whole diet thing into the wind?

(Yes, I know packet cake isn't 'real' cake but let me work up to the real thing, I am not a good cook!)

I'm pleased to say I'm still only a partial mother, having used a packet cake ... but for all that, Hugo was satisfied :yes: ... never know, I might actually try my hand at cooking from scratch one of these days :hehe:

Oh my camera is so full it takes about 20 minutes to load pictures (yeah I should delete a bunch of them, I just want to back them up first).

ok look I have to confess, I didn't ice it yet - we didn't want to wait until it cooled so we ate a piece un-iced (icing isn't that great anyway :hehe:) so the picture is pretty boring, but I will ice it after H is in bed. Maybe. And I might even take another photo.

If we dont want to ice our cakes we just nix cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle it over the cake...after we butter the top first. It's like a tea cake and very yummmy

you mean some people still make a cake from scratch?? I can only do packet ones. I do make patty cakes from scratch though LOL, they're easy, but as to a big one.. it always sinks in the middle, or isnt cooked properly.

Cake doesnt have time to get iced in this place!!

We only had a piece each (read: Hugo had his and half of mine, little cake-monster) and now that I've iced it, I'll either give it to DH to take to work for his staff or take it with me to mothers group tomorrow. There are a couple of new breastfeeding mums who could burn mud cake calories pretty quickly :hehe:
