I always, always wear sleepers in my ears and all day yesterday my ears were sore so last night I took them out and ick they have icky stuff on them so I cant wear them anymore :( Now I have stupid studs that will no doubt dig into me while I'm sleeping :( I'm so sad and sleepers are so darn expensive to buy :(

Can't you clean them Angie? I hate studs as well, the posts are so annoying, and they feel too tight in my ears so I wear sleepers when I do wear earrings.

Why can't you clean them Angie, I soak all my earrings in surgical spirits, maybe it is you and not the sleepers, you might be run down, as you said you had cold sores, last week, take care Angie, you may be getting worn out with two active boys and in the early stage of preg

What exactly are sleepers? I have never heard of them? Are they earrings that you sleep in? Unless I live under a rock (which Breckenridge seems sometimes) then I don't think these are very prevalent things in the US...

LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO Sorry ladies its an Aussie thing, I think we went though it with Gina a while ago :hehe:

Sleepers are small hoops that go through your ears, they have no posts or anything, they open up in one section and clip close

Here's a pic
http://www.walshbrothers.co.uk/Update/hinged_sleeper_earrings.htm

They do come in a few sizes and mine are silver, I hate gold ick LOL

Interesting! So just little hoops! I sleep in my earrings but I know what ya'll are saying about the posts stabbing in your neck. Mine do that all the time! :)

I rarely take my earrings out...a creature of habit...unless I am going OUT...then I wear my big danglies!

Yeah I like to leave my sleepers in cause they dont dig into me, I hate studs, I only have one on the top of my left ear and even that bothers me too, sometimes I put a sleeper in there but the one I have is too big and it looks weird :hehe:

I would just end up wearing the sleepers all the time!

Angie

I too wear silver "sleepers" and I got them at Prouds for about $10.00 so they are not that expensive, they are sterling silver and have been wearing them for over 12 months...

Have a look around you might be surprised.

You can get some special ear cleaning stuff at the chemist, as my sister had the same problem when she was early in her pregnancy, all of a sudden she had sore ears, took her earrings out and just left them out for a few days and soaked her gold earring in some of this stuff and all better...I don't even own a pair of stud earrings they are just too uncomfortable to wear...

Sleepers are great 'cause if you want your ear rings to look cool you can add things to them...little charms and such...

and yep Angie, I use those nappy things too....Snappy nappies...they are way better than pins!

How are your ears today Angie?

I had visions of your earlobes melting and putting sticky stuff on your sleepers. LMAO

It's good that Alexa told you about her sister. I'd never heard of it before. Also, I clean my earrings (sleepers/stud posts) with metho when I think of it.

I keep studs in my three holes usually. I've probably got holes behind my ears for the studs to go in! :jump:

I nearly LMAO with the American's comments. Sorry American people. What do you call them or don't you have them?

LMAO LMAO LMAO Bev.

I couldnt find any metho :( so I soaked em in warm salty water while I had a shower, they are still a weird colour on the inside. Havent put them back in yet, will do that tmorrow afternoon, my ears are sore from the studs so I'm going to leave nothing in them for tonight :) give em a rest for a bit :hehe:

Snappies ... we use them too, I wouldn't cloth if I had to pin them, too worried I'd stab him. Or me. Or something.

Angie you could try cleaning your sleepers with toothpaste on an old toothbrush. Rinse in warm water, then just dry them with a cloth.
I'm just trying to think of how I clean my silver jewellery. I actually have jewellery cleaner and a cloth for shining and cleaning. That's mainly for my gold rings etc. though.
I also wear gold not silver although I have a silver chain that I've cleaned with toothpaste. I'm pretty sure it helped.
Anyway, won't cost you much to try. I wouldn't buy the jewellery cleaner just for that though. It's a bit pricey and you need to use it a lot to justify that sort of money I think. I got mine when I was working. It's not on my priority list these days.

LMAO Bev...we don't have sleepers from what I am gathering. I don't know anyone over here who has earrings JUST to sleep in. They look like cute little hoops. :)

I just have my everyday earrings (posts) that I wear unless I am going out to the bars or a party or something.
