The Smoke and Mirrors Award – won by Kellogg's Coco Pops last year – aims to expose those who give an impression that their product is healthier than it really is.
Surely there aren't too many people out there who are fooled into believing coco pops (and similar) are actually good for kids? Reminds me of that ad for chuppa chups a few years ago when there were trying to pass them off as better for you than they really are (I mean come on, they are sugar on a stick ... )

I don't let my kids pressure me into buying something just because they have seen it on tv. But i have seen it done in the shops, the parents give in to keep the peace in public. I fell like asking them who is in charge but always bite my tounge. I let my kids rant, rave, winge and scream and just walk away.

I NEVER give into the kids while shopping and if they keep going I will put other products back that I know they recognise and like (tiny teddies or stuff).
My kids eat coco pops...but they also have just right or toast or weet bix or just plain fruit...I beleive things in moderation dont hurt...and if they aren't really hungry I would prefer them to eat coco pops than no breakfast at all.

Oh I'm not saying kids shouldn't eat them. We had them (very) occasionally growing up (lots of kids, not much money meant they were a rare treat). I just think, look they're obviously not health food, so don't try to market them as such. (and having a non-eater I agree I would rather he ate something less healthy than nothing at all).
