My poor baby needs a hernia operation. He's going in on 27 June & thankfully it's a day proceedure. The dr says he'll recover quickly & I don't even have to try & keep him quiet for a few days (which I was worried about - how do you keep a 3.5 year old quiet for a few days... :) ).
Dad's been teasing me because we had him circumsized & I'm worried about this operation
My head knows he'll be fine, but my heart is crying for him.
The joys of being a mother! lol

Poor little Nat, I'm sure he will be fine Melissa, like you said the hardest thing will be trying to keep him quiet afterwards. It always amazes me how quickly children can bounce back...it seems the younger they are the quicker they recover. I am sure you will be worried, thats your job, I hope everything goes well, I'm sure it will be. Try not to worry and keep :)

Hi Melissa,
Sorry to hear that Nat needs a hernia op, but I just wanted to assure you, that they come through it so well. I found a hernia in Zac's groin when he was about 8 months old and we were booked in for a routine operation but before they could do it, it actually strangulated one day thus making it necessary to do straight away. I used to have to work the hernia back in (part of the bowel was coming out) and it was just a matter of giving the lump a gentle push and it would go back in, but this day he screamed when I went to do it.
We were taken straight up to the hospital and admitted straight away, but because they had trouble finding his file and because he had the flu at the time, they decided to sedate him and force the hernia back in and operate in the morning. He was only in surgery for a little while and then when they brought him back up to the ward, he was jumping around as if nothing was wrong and they had not only repaired the side that was giving him trouble but they also operated on the other side and the belly button one as well.

Sorry to hear Nat needs an op Melissa
It is still a scary thing, not matter how small the procedure is. Hayden had his adenoids done and grommets put in last year. He was such a brave little man :)
It breaks your heart, but they do much better than we do LOL. He came home that night and was begging for pizza and running feral through the house the next day
Good luck for you both, I sure it will go well :)
Big Hugs to both you and little Nat

We're home now, and I am VERY glad it's over!
Nat was such a good boy. DH has gone to get him some coloured popcorn - Nat's request for special treat :)
He's feeling a bit tired & sore & is resting on the couch with a Playschool DVD.
