Does anyone keep one, or read one on a regular basis?
I have started to read them a bit of late. One in particular, that I read a few times a week.. Dooce (http://www.dooce.com/)
Her humor may not be for everyone, but I think she is hilarious, and with posts like this, how could you not keep coming back LOL
I just spent $20 to have my dog’s anal sacs squeezed because he’s been greasing the couch lately. That may seem a bit exorbitant for a little gland squeezing, but it will definitely go down as the best $20 I ever spent: I DON‘T HAVE TO SQUEEZE THEM MYSELF.

Ok, I put my hand up. What is blogs? You realize that I live in Townsville, woop woop in the eyes of many.
As Pauline Hansen would say - please explain?

What rock have you been living under? LOL
A Blog, or weB LOG is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger."
A photo blog is sometimes called a phlog, but we won't go there :Hehe:

Apparently blogs are old hat now - the next big thing is vlogging (video blogging). So the Good Weekend magazine says!
I keep a blog - 2 actually. One for the cats (and now has Hugo tagged on as well) and another one somewhere else that is really just for me ... for some reason I keep up with it because it is a blog, if it was a regular journal I wouldn't keep it up. I do read a few, too.

I have one - pretty boring to other people probably but something that I just wanted to write - it is just about me and where I am from and where I am now etc.

I had a read of yours last night Emma, and it was not at all boring.
I guess we all think our lives are dull, maybe it's watching too much reality TV. But I think a lot of people enjoy readings others stories of their lives, things they have done etc.
I had thought about starting a photo blog for the kids, will put it on the end of the very long to do list

I have one (that I think is linked into my profile). I started it during a tough bit of my life (parents had moved overseas, broken up with boyfriend of 3 years, had to move house.... etc). I found it useful to just get it all out in the open. People were very supportive and that helped a great deal.
I read probably three on a daily to weekly basis. They are on the same site as me and they are just great people.

Had a sneaky peak at yours Naomi, see you had the same idea (wordpress) Will you be moving all your old stuff over?
Naomi

um, don't know! We had issues with it and DH has spent the past few days mucking around with it - won't be moving the old stuff over (didn't back it up before we lost it ;( ) but will no doubt be recycling some old pictures.

I know this guy from high school who now bets on sports for a living! He recently started a blog which gives out free money-making tips on tennis.

If you want to read blogs, just go to the Google blog search and type in the topic on their search engine. I like the ones which contain funny TV commercials.

I enjoy visiting other people's blogs, and I have my own. Mainly random thoughts, recipes, lists, personal anecdotes - helps me out with my dodgy memory for things. Would be a boring read for other people! http://www.mja.id.au

I have a msn space thingy and that has a blog part on it but I don't have much to tell anyone just plain old boring family stuff so I hardly update it. But here it is if anyone wants to see my babies.

Well I have finally gotten around to creating a blog but I thought it would be more effective to use one for my website rather than a personal one and use it as a promotional tool with site updates, new products, etc. I wouldnt really know what to say in a personal one. My friends tell me I should publish a book about my adventures but I think I might do it posthumously as I would be too embarrassed.

Well, I did it! You all made a blog sound so normal and "do-able" that I started one! Yes it currently has 3 sentences!:D Man, I sure hope my life gets more interesting.

Christine, just post anything - a little something each day, you'll be amazed at how quickly your blog will grow in size and content :)

Christine, it can be a great way to mark your child's development. I have a blog that is mostly pictures of Hugo but I also put some text in there, and will put in interesting things that I'd like to remember like first tooth, first step. Originally, it was just for pictures of our cats, and was a bit on a joke, then when Hugo was born we put pictures of him and little stories to share with our far away and O/S family and friends. Now I love to look back at it and remember all those little things I might have forgotten otherwise. Oh, and the cats still get an occasional picture in there too lol.

All those great blogs seem to be neglected. Shame on you!
I have one at http://sarahk.pcpropertymanager.com/blog/ and it's mostly techie stuff but the kids pop up occassionally.
My Blogging recommendations
Only use Blogger or Blogspot if you are blogging for a bit of a laugh, your blog could disappear overnight, otherwise pay for some webhosting and do it properly
Use the free blogging software from www.wordpress.org - it's easy to install and easy to use and there's lots of help
Use this blogging forum for the really techie questions: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40
post on here and I'll help out where I can
Post a link to your blog in your signature here so we can all keep track of you (after 10 posts of course)
Naomi

If you post a link in your signature, please make sure it's just a personal blog and not a commercial one, thanks.
Sarah - I keep mine updated fairly regularly (and have a link in my sig ;) )

wasn't clear it was a blog :dk: y'know, that's ok because I don't need for it to be clear, it's not a blog that would be all that interesting to anyone who doesn't have a least a little background info on Hugo, and most of the people who look at it, do.

Thanks for the tips on how to get my blog going. I've been keeping a journal by my bedside about my experiences with Chance since his birth. Kind of like a book he'll be able to read about his childhood once he is older and mom has forgotten most of the things I'd have like to have shared. I'll look at my blog as my back- up for the journal but better because I can add photos easier in the blog.

A bit of trivia - according to technorati.com (http://technorati.com) there is a new blog created every few seconds.

It is pretty ordinary mainly rants about uni and life in general though sometimes I break it up a bit with afunny link or meme or something.
If your wondering why there is not alot there at the moment it is because I only re-opened the journal in feburary so I havn't had achance to get it back up to what it used to be.
