View Full Version : How long would you wait?

I won an auction last Saturday, and paid then (as well as made email contact). Haven't heard anything from the seller at all.
I realise it would take a couple of days for the money to hit her account (direct deposit), so at the latest, I'd imagine she'd have had confirmation of payment by Wed so I'm not expecting it to be in the post until early this week.
Is it normal for a seller not to contact the buyer at all? (She has not left feedback which I find is normal - they tend to leave it until the buyer leaves feedback, I guess to make sure they don't leave +ve and get -ve or something). I would feel better knowing she has received my payment and has posted (or soon will be posting) the item.
If I haven't heard/got the item by Wednesday, would it be okay to email her then? I don't want to harrass her, but if she hasn't received payment, or is having problems getting to a post office or whatever, I'd rather know than just sit here wondering.

Most sellers I've dealt with don't contact me much, if at all!!

With every purchase I've made, the seller has always contacted me within a couple of hours, and we email backwards and forwards a couple of times until the transaction is complete. I always email to let them know that payment has been made, they then usually reply and let me know that when it shows up they will post the items, then they also email again to let me know that they have posted the items. I always email to let them know I've received it and to also let them know that I've let feedback and I ask that they do the same for me.
If it were me, I would be emailing her, asking her to confirm if she has received your payment and when she expects to post the item. I think you have every right to ask these questions and to expect her to email you back. If she doesn't reply, but sends the goods, then I would be giving neutral feedback, stating the lack of email contact.

The sellers that i have had contact with are usually pretty good. If there is something that i want to know, i send them an e-mail and they reply back - maybe not straight away, but they do. They want to get the stuff out of their home, or they want to make a good sale so that people will come back to them. Like Jewly does, I send an e-mail saying that i have paid for the item/s and then ask them when they expect to send the parcel off.

This used to really shit me, but have gotten used to it :(
It's not too often I will get any emails at all from a seller. Usually it will just turn up in the mail. Or I might get some feedback, and assume it will arrive soon enough.
You usually have a set time in your mind, how long payment will take, postage etc. And if it hasn't arrived by then I'll usually email and ask. It usually turns up just as you have email, or the day after, and you look like a fool LOL

Yeah, it came, just showed up in the post - luckily before I did the "where is it?" email. I can understand a superseller having problems keeping up but if you're only selling a few things, how hard is it to hit the reply button and acknowledge the contact?

I always try to keep in contact with my buyers to let them know if i recieved payment and when i've sent it etc... i know alot of sellers aren't as "nice" as that but as you said...some are powersellers but you still need to keep your customers happy so they'll come back to you again!!
I hate it when people don't leave feedback for you either!! I always leave feedback for everyone i deal with!! Maybe i just want more numbers next to my star!! LOL It just looks alot better i guess!!
Sometimes if something seems to take a little while to come i just send them a lil message asking if they recieved my payment and saying that i'm always worried in case i've typed in the wrong account number etc... and i find that they'll usually let you know!!
