anyone into the books and movies? I can't believe all the fuss about the release of a book. Did any of your line up on Sat morning to buy a copy? Not me :)
Floria, I love reading the books, but can wait till all the hoo-haa dies down before I go along to the library and borrow it. :D
I love the movies too, and have copies of all three that are out. Am looking forward to the 4th movie now. ;)

I went in on Saturday and got the book for Hubby as it was his birthday the following day and he loves the whole series. As far as I am concerned it is money well spent as the whole family will enjoy it!

We don't have a copy yet but will get it eventually, if only because we've got the others and I think it will be nice to hold on to for Hugo to read someday. We did see it in KMart and I mentioned to DH that I'd just wait and go to BigW as it was cheaper and the rude woman at the entrance to the store said, "Oh but BigW have sold out" so I laughed and said, "I'll wait til they get more in" but definitely not buying from KMart now (who claimed in the media that they would price match, but it seems they actually wont).

My family ( except for hubby) are all HP mad. We have all the books so far but not the new one yet- I usually wait for the price to go down a bit. 1 of my daughters came home from school today with this months lucky bookclub and it has the new HP with $10-00 off so might buy it from that.
Every time a new one comes out I read the whole series again. ;)
And my 4 year old knows the first 2 movies almost off by heart. ( one day I'll get round to buying the 3rd movie too)lol

Maybe a subtle hint before your birthday or christmas might help push them in the right direction ;)

As it turned out, Big W still had lots of copies, went there the next day for something else and they had a big table full so I bought it then and I've read it. No spoilers, but I will say, the first half was slow and boring but it got better towards the end.
Well, I got a nice surprise on Saturday! My Hubby and Son went to town and came back with the new Harry Potter book for me! I am so happy!! I was quite prepared to wait till it was available at our local library, but now I have my very own copy!!
I finally got around to starting it today............ hmmm, yes a bit flat at the beginning............!

It's a bit flat for about 2/3 of the book. Honestly, I thought it really only got interesting near the end.

Bah what a shame :( I am reading the fifth book at the mo and i remember when i first read it that I thought that she could have cut that book by 2/3rds as well... oh dear now i don't know if i want to read it LOL.
Monty, it IS worth getting!!! I picked it up again last night, and started reading..... before I knew it, I had been reading for 4hrs!!!! :) I guess what we both probably meant is that it doesn't start with a huge drama as some of the others have.
Thumbs UP from me!!!!!

No, I just felt that too much of the early book was focussed on inconsequential stuff. I mean, bloody Voldemort is back, do we care that Ron finally got a girlfriend?? I guess I just thought that it would be a bit more 'grown up' given that her original intended audience are getting grown up now. And it seems to be written in a different style to the others (I actually thought the same thing about the previous book as well) and the characterisation is NOT the same.
But Monty, you've got to read it - the last part makes up for the slow start!

Heheh I might go get a copy next week after I finish the 5th one. I also think this book (the fifth one) has a different style but its not really that different. She is using more descriptive words me thinks and is probably trying to be have a more 'aged' angle since the stories are supposed to be aging since the kiddies have been. The first book I sort of hated at first cus I couldn't stand the style but of course it was meant for the young ones LOL. I think she is just trying to adapt for the change in ages.
I am wondering how they are going to do the next movie out this year... I mean the book is going to be a tonne better i think it always has been than the movies IMO. Too much background info that is important for the other stories is missed out.
