  3. Smile How to make tender Chicken Breast Fillets

Hi everyone, just thought I would add this as my first food post. I am not a fan of chicken breasts because I find them a bit dry and tough when not cooked well. I can only eat them when they have been steamed or poached (like in Hainanese or Soy Sauce Chicken Rice) However, I tried to prepare them the classic Chinese way the other day - and my oh my, I love eating chicken breasts now! It is actually a technique called velveting chicken (not the same as a recipe called Chicken Velvet...

  5. Question Prawns

Theoretically if I had a bag of frozen green prawns in the freezer, how long can I leave them there before they should be chucked out? Or rather, if I bought a bag of frozen green prawns and I can't recall when exactly that was, what is the chance they are still any good? The packaging just says use within two days of thawing but no mention of how long they are good for if they remain frozen. I can guarantee for certain that it wasn't any time in the last three months but beyond that, I'm...

  9. Lite-n-Easy

I was wondering if anyone has tried the Lite n Easy meals and can tell me what they are like? I'm thinking of getting the dinners while S is working away just because I really can't be bothered to cook for just me (and I eat later than the children, and don't particularly like the same foods they eat). I'm not that keen on the frozen meals from the supermarket, some of them seem to have a distinctive smell that must be some kind of preservative or something, and I really don't like it. Are...

  13. Supercook.com

Has anyone used this site before? www.supercook.com I just read about it, it sounds really good. What you do is you put in items in your fridge or pantry, if you don't have any idea what to do for dinner, and it lists a bunch of recipes you can make.

  16. What foods can be frozen?

Is it possible to freeze things like cooked pasta & rice? What about mashed spuds? Cakes, slices that sort of thing? Basically I want to cook up a storm before bub is born to make life easier at that time. Also I want to make DF home made school snacks like musli bars etc and if I can freeze things I can make more ands as a result sve more time and money in the long run. I read some where you can freexe deli meats as well like ham, stras, salami etc.

  21. Wanted: Apple Cinnamon Cake recipe; tried & tested.

Wanted: Apple Cinnamon Cake recipe that's tried and tested. I love the combination of Apple Cinnamon Cake/Muffins/Breakfast Bars/ Hot Chocolate... you name it. So, the cafe down stairs don't always make Apple Cinnamon Muffins every morning & I got to lamenting over this fact on Friday. 24. Jam

Does/Has anyone made their own jam? I am currently using downtime at work (not that there is much of it) to troll the net for recipes I can make for DS lunch box rather than store bought snacks. Seeing as I finish up work in a month I can imagine I will be be rather bored at home with nothing to do but wait around for a month until bubs arrives. I plan on using my time to cook and bake and generally fill the freezer and pantry because after bubs is here I know I wont feel like cooking and its...
