I have been making rice paper rolls for dh's lunch and need some new ideas - i normally do rice, cream cheese and cucumber or rice, asparagous and zuchini.

I found a recipe for a very nice looking San Choy Bau. It uses Hoisin sauce. From I can tell its a duck sauce. Would it be ok to leave it out or what would be a decent replacement, the recipe calls for 4 tablespoons of hoisin.
